2004 Ford F-150 - More for Your 5.4
The oil feed is pulled from the traditional oil-sender location near the oil filter. A feed line is T'd into the oil-pressure sending unit.
The oil-drain line is connected to the valve cover using a return fitting. The NPT fitting is installed in the driver's-side valve cover, and Vortech requires a temporary install of the supercharger mounting plate, allowing you to tap the hole in the proper location. It is a gravity drain, and the head unit mounts higher than the valve cover, making it the logical choice for the oil return.
The fuel injectors are replaced with a set of 39-pound units. The Vortech-supplied injectors are most commonly found on '03-'04 SVT Cobras.
The power-steering reservoir is unbolted from its bracket. It will be reattached to the supercharger-mounting bracket.
An idler pulley is attached to the supercharger mounting plate along with various spacers and bolts.
The SQ-trim head unit is lowered into place and bolted to the bracket. Its reverse-style mounting helps make the installation clean and easy.
With the blower bolted on (using Loctite on the bolts), it's time to attach another idler pulley. After all the pulleys are in place, run the serpentine belt. Vortech supplies a map detailing how to route the new, longer belt so that all accessories work properly and there is sufficient belt wrap on the blower pulley.
Here we're attaching the oil-feed fitting. The power-steering reservoir (left) is bolted to the supercharger-mounting bracket.
The Powercooler cools the incoming air using recirculated water. The radiator for the Powercooler is mounted to the front of the truck's radiator; it gets plenty of air from the big grille. The water circulation pump is mounted in the front of the truck as well.
A rubber elbow attaches to the stock throttle body and will eventually hook up to the Powercooler.
The Powercooler fits between the throttle body and the supercharger.
Attach the water lines to the Powercooler.
