Operation of the manual-look shifter is simple. Pushing down on the handle allows the driver to maneuver the shifter through the shift positions. The shifter also retains all of the stock shifter functions, including Overdrive turnoff.

Next, the stock handle is removed. With the Overdrive turnoff wires unplugged from the shifter base, Combs cuts the two white wires, leaving about an inch of wire from the connector.
The wires are then crimped...
The wires are then crimped into the harness that is part of the new shifter assembly.

Before the new shifter assembly is reinstalled, the stock shift indicator cover is removed.

Following the supplied instructions, Combs replaces the spring in the shift lever with the new heavier spring provided in the kit.
Once the new shift lever is...
Once the new shift lever is installed, the Overdrive turnoff wire is reinstalled to the shifter base.
After slipping the new leather...
After slipping the new leather shifter boot over the entire assembly, the stock trim ring is also reinstalled. The tabs in all four corners are cut off, and the ring is now held in place with double-sided tape that is supplied in the kit.
