The number one rule when using...
The number one rule when using nitrous oxide is no Teflon tape. Ny-Trex supplies a tube of Teflon paste to seal the pieces together. Teflon tape can get into the lines and has been known to stick open a solenoid or two, killing an engine in short order.
The Triple-Threat system includes the integrated solenoid block; a 10-pound nitrous bottle with a high-flow valve; braided stainless steel supply lines; quick-clamp bottle brackets; mounting and wiring hardware; all electrical components; a 15-amp microswitch; a T-Rex nozzle; and jetting for 50, 75, 125, and 150 hp.To find a suitable test subject, we turned to the capable hands at Hurricane Performance in Orange Park, Florida, which provided us with one Tanner Suman and his '05 Mustang GT. Suman's GT was equipped with numerous bolt-ons, and laid down a stout 307 hp and 321 lb-ft of torque on its baseline dyno pulls. Hurricane's Jason Combs and Jason Wells handled the installation with ease, and in short order, we loaded the GT onto the TunersInc Dynojet next door to try and improve on the Three-Valve's naturally aspirated output.

The bottle is mounted in the trunk, and thankfully, you don't have to keep an eye out for the gas tank when drilling as it's mounted under the rear seats on the S197. Still, plan out your mounting holes and then drill carefully.
If this is your first nitrous system, you should start with the 50hp jets until you are suitably skilled at handling the instant 50hp increase in power. Then you can step up to the 75hp jets, which is where we started.After purging the system and going wide open in Fourth gear, the results came in at 361 hp and 397 lb-ft of torque. That's an increase of 54 hp and 76 lb-ft of torque-at the wheels.
Next, we stepped up to the 125hp jets, and found that we needed to reduce the gap on the spark plugs. One thing to keep in mind is that the factory plugs are prone to breaking into three pieces upon removal, and that can turn into a lengthy ordeal. Luckily for us, the Hurricane crew was able to pull all of our plugs without issue. If you're going through the trouble of gapping the plugs to run a bigger shot of nitrous, you should order a new set of plugs that is one heat range colder than stock.
With the new gap set to 0.032 inch, the '05 GT spun the rollers once more, churning out 389 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque for gains of 82 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. Calculating for a suitable drivetrain loss, we'd say the power estimates are right on for flywheel horsepower and torque. One thing is for sure, with a power improvement like this, the next ride in your Ny-Trex equipped Mustang is sure to be an exhilarating one.
