The original plan was to jack up on the seat mount until the chassis was raised an inch, however, the floorpan's creaking noises made us stop at a half inch. While installing the subframe... While installing the subframe connectors, the car must be on its wheels. We used four ramps. The Maximum Motorsports seat-reinforcing... The Maximum Motorsports seat-reinforcing crossbars attach to the rear seat-mounting bolts. To ensure proper thread engagement, we replaced the OEM fasteners with those that Maximum Motorsports supplied. We trial-fit the subframe... We trial-fit the subframe connectors and mark the areas for welding with a paint marker. (The jack was only used as a "helping hand" and should not be used to force the subframe connectors into position.) For long-lasting corrosion... For long-lasting corrosion resistance, we chose Maximum Motorsports powdercoated subframe connectors. An angle die grinder and small sanding disks make quick work... ...of removing the powdercoating... ...of removing the powdercoating where we plan to weld. We swapped to a small cartridge roll to prep the unibody. weld-through primer protects... weld-through primer protects the areas that are hidden after welding. It makes smooth welding a bit more difficult, but it's good peace of mind. We made a cardboard shield to minimize overspray. To allow better access to... To allow better access to the rear subframe for welding, we remove the after-cat-on IRS Mustangs, it's a snap. Welding sends a lot of current through the chassis. To minimize the chance of frying any expensive electronics, we disconnect the battery before starting to weld. with everything prepped and... with everything prepped and fitted, it is time to weld. We took our time and made sure to have a fire extinguisher within arm's reach...just in case. With all the welding complete,... With all the welding complete, we need to prime and paint the welds. Our anal-retentive side convinced us to mask everything off to avoid overspray.
