Vortech V-3 SCi Supercharger Mustang 5.0L Engine Kit Upgrade

|
We saw a peak horsepower reading... We saw a peak horsepower reading of 405 rwhp with a max boost pressure at peak of 6 psi. Torque was an impressive 409 rwtq. Those are considerable gains over our baseline of 309 rwhp and 341 rwtq. Using basic math skills, that puts our gains at 96 rwhp and 69 rwtq. Here is the T-Rex mounted... Here is the T-Rex mounted in front of the fuel tank. This pump, combined with the UPR in-tank piece, can supply more fuel than we would ever need for this test. An MSD coil keeps our spark... An MSD coil keeps our spark charged nicely, which is important when dealing with the high cylinder pressures that are present in a supercharged engine. The cap and rotor were replaced... The cap and rotor were replaced with MSD pieces. We also added a new set of MSD spark plug wires. The test engine has a 75mm... The test engine has a 75mm throttle body mounted to the inlet of the intake. Vortech designed this kit for a stock engine, so the rubber coupler from Vortech didn't fit over our larger throttle body. To compensate for this, Eric... To compensate for this, Eric Haliday of JPC cut up a larger coupler and doubled it up on the throttle body (-30) and the discharge tube (-31). A chrome radiator hose bends... A chrome radiator hose bends around the blower. Vortech supplies the chrome aluminum hose, and the factory radiator hose is cut up in order to connect it all together. We think the 5.0L engine compartment... We think the 5.0L engine compartment was secretly designed for a supercharger-the Vortech V-3 looks so natural in there. Vortech shipped our blower... Vortech shipped our blower filled with its special synthetic blower lube. Be sure to double-check it before you fire up the car; there is a dipstick to check the levels. The instructions recommend... The instructions recommend changing the oil for the first time at 2,500 miles; then every 7,500 miles after that. Here is the drain hose-simply remove the AN cap and open up the vent on the blower body. Special synthetic lubricant... Special synthetic lubricant is required for the V-3 supercharger. The company sells packs of three for $30. Extra bottles are included in the kit to get you through the first few oil changes. Burcham added a custom tune... Burcham added a custom tune using a Diablo Sport chip. He mainly added more fuel and removed ignition timing.
