Forced induction is a huge part of the Mustang aftermarket. The unfortunate truth is that mod motors are handicapped with a less than desirable displacement from the factory and don't have the big-inch capabilities of their slightly larger 5.0L predecessor. Even with big-bore blocks and stroker crankshafts rapidly becoming readily available, cubic-inch limits are still relatively small compared to the mod motor's push-rod relatives.
Superchargers have become one of the most common modifications when big power and great driveability are high priorities. Whether a Roots-type, twin-screw, or centrifugal supercharger is your forced induction of choice, it's a great way to reliably add power without adversely effecting driveability.

For Ford Motor Company, superchargers are the factory power adder of choice. The '03-'04 SVT Cobra, SVT Lightning, and Shelby GT500s all came from the factory with Eaton Roots-type superchargers. Not only does Eaton supply the factory units to Ford, but it also supplies many of the aftermarket companies with blowers for the kits they sell.
Following the success of Eaton's Roots-type supercharger, the company needed to take its supercharger offerings to the next level. Its Twin Vortices Series, or TVS, is a new four-lobe design created with one thing in mind-power. The TVS design features twin four-lobe rotors twisted 160 degrees as opposed to twin three-lobe rotors twisted 60 degrees in the Roots-type. The result is smoother, more efficient airflow and improved overall performance in a smaller overall package.

Whether you're looking to add a little extra punch to your daily driver or you're building a tire-shredding street machine, the FRPP/Whipple supercharger systems perform like no other supercharger system on the market today. From tip-in to redline, the new Whipple supercharger system makes over 40 percent more power across the entire rpm range while maintaining great driveability. The '05-'09 Three-Valve supercharger system raises horsepower to nearly 415 with only 6 psi of boost, and is available for automatic and manual-equipped vehicles. If you are looking for even more power, the HO system produces nearly 75 percent more power across the entire rpm range. The HO system adds a massive aluminum air-to-water intercooler, allowing you to run significantly higher boost levels, making it easier than ever before to reach the 500hp range. We ran one on Project MILF as quick as 11.40s at 120-plus with 20-inch tires.
Building on its strong name, Edelbrock stepped into the forced-induction market in late 2008. The E-Force supercharger is the first forced-induction offering from Edelbrock, and the results have been great. The E-Force uses an Eaton TVS-type supercharger as the base for this kit, which comes in two forms. The complete kit is 50-state legal and is designed to make 466 hp and 439 lb-ft of torque with just 5 pounds of boost. The system utilizes a low-restriction intake-manifold design with 15-inch runners for maximum torque and an integrated bypass valve for reduced parasitic loss. A high-capacity air-to-water intercooler, spark plugs, coil covers, and handheld flash programmer are also included.
The competition kit is capable of supporting 700-800 hp and is designed for off-road use only. Depending on the application, the kit includes the supercharger manifold assembly, an 85mm throttle body, an idler bracket, a belt tensioner brace, a water crossover, an intercooler and intercooler pump, a heat exchanger, idler pulleys, and mounting hardware. Undersized pulleys are available in 2.75-, 3.00-, 3.25-, and 3.50-inch sizes.

Kenne Bell has been a player in the supercharger arena since 1991. Over the years, the company has been at the forefront of supercharger technology, and its new line of Big Bore twin-screw superchargers is no exception. The H- and S-Series superchargers are identical in construction and boost output, but that is where the similarities stop. "The challenge was to design two unique, ultra-efficient superchargers that use the least engine horsepower to pump the most air/boost at the coolest air temps in their designated boost range. I feel we met that challenge," explains Jim Bell, president of Kenne Bell Superchargers. The H-Series superchargers feature a redesigned discharge port shape that reduces air charge temperatures and parasitic loss. These compressors feature a 2.0:1 internal pressure ratio for improved efficiency at higher boost levels and are designed to operate in the 15-24 psi range. The S-Series superchargers feature a 1.4:1 internal pressure ratio and are ideal for the 6-14 psi range.

With the '10 Mustangs rolling off the lots, Paxton Automotive is rolling out a new supercharger kit to make them faster. The Paxton NOVI 2200SL is a gear-driven centrifugal supercharger that will bring horsepower from 315 to 470 and torque from 325 to 420 lb-ft at the flywheel. The system includes the new SL compressor, which is self-lubricating and includes an internal oil reservoir that doesn't require any additional oil lines or holes in the oil pan. An integrated air-to-air charge cooler allows for additional power, and the kit is capable of supporting 900 hp. All the components needed to bolt the system to a stock vehicle are included, such as aluminum mounting brackets; fuel system upgrades, including a high-flow fuel pump and replacement injectors; a DiabloSport Predator hand-held programmer; a compressor bypass valve; and all required hardware.
Street performance is a large part of the Mustang aftermarket, and Magnuson Products knows all about it. The Magna Charger Roots/hybrid supercharger system is great for budget-oriented enthusiasts looking to achieve higher levels of performance without the hefty price tag. The Magna Charger starts producing boost almost instantly, pushing 4 pounds of boost at only 1,500 rpm, and peaks at 7.5 pounds. Even with relatively low boost numbers, the Magna Charger offers gains of 120 rwhp over stock. Magna Charger offers a custom version of this Roots/hybrid supercharger with an integral air-to-water intercooler for unmatched performance, and the Magna Charger-designed intake manifold features tuned equal-length runners for precise cylinder-to-cylinder mixture and detonation control. A unique internal bypass valve reduces supercharger drag and provides instantaneous boost with the lightest touch of the throttle. We've always loved the good looks of this blower kit, and its easy-to-read instructions, which help even the novice get the job done with confidence.
If you are looking for big power from your '10 Mustang GT, ProCharger has the answer. With the redesigned '10 Mustang comes two new self-contained, intercooled supercharger kits from ProCharger. The HO Intercooled and Stage II Intercooled systems offer two levels of performance for the Mustang enthusiast. The HO Intercooled kit uses a P-1SC-1 head unit and three-core air-to-air intercooler to make power. The system also includes a ProFlow bypass valve, 39.5 lb/hr fuel injectors, an upgraded in-tank fuel pump, a Diablo-Sport Predator handheld tuner with ProCharger's custom tune preloaded, and 2.5- and 3.0-inch tubing to plumb the system. The Stage II system uses all 3.0-inch tubing, as well as a new low-profile electric fan and the coolant-reservoir replacement tank necessary to clear the larger tubing. Both systems can be upgraded to ProCharger's larger D-1SC and F-1 head units, and the Stage II is designed to support higher levels of horsepower.

After three decades of racing and building specialty Mustangs, Steve Saleen is at it again. SMS Supercars is Steve's newest endeavor, and the firm has released its SMS 296 Supercharger System. The SMS 296 Supercharger System features a new Lysholm compressor, as well as a new intercooler design. The LYS32M3 Lysholm compressor module puts out an incredible 32 cubic meters of air per minute. The system is designed to increase power yet decrease fuel consumption compared to similar horsepower configurations from a naturally aspirated engine.
The SMS Six Pack Intercooler System features six cylindrical microfin intercoolers, which provide more than 60 percent of additional cooling and efficiency compared to conventional intercoolers. The system uses a single-pass coolant flow, a 90-lpm water pump, and a high-volume dual-pass heat exchanger to handle the extremely high horsepower applications.

What separates one supercharger from the next? With Techco's Reverse-Revolution Twin Screw supercharger, the answer is "everything." Techco's unique design optimizes airflow efficiency with many original design features. The air inlet is the first obvious differentiator from many other twin-screws. Techco moved the throttle body to the front of the unit, allowing more direct airflow into the compressor housing. Once the incoming air is compressed, it flows into Techco's unique intercooler housing. The twin-intercooler design ensures the intake charge is evenly distributed to each runner bank. This design offers greater cooling capacity and higher thermal efficiency. A further benefit of the front inlet design is the additional space above the supercharger that is used for long, high-flow intake runners, which greatly improves low-end torque.

Vortech Engineering, known for its centrifugal superchargers, has stepped into the twin-screw playground with its new Lysholm-design VTS Series. The VTS is a positive displacement design, providing maximum low-end torque coupled with high efficiency for the best possible top-end power. Other features include a plenum design with increased volume, allowing unrestricted flow to the intake port, and an oversized dual-pass air-to-water charge cooler for a lower discharge temperature. An integrated bypass valve and fuel-rail mount positions are provided, and calibration is accomplished through the DiabloSport Predator hand-held programmer. The manifold also has provisions for upgrading to the larger 3.3L compressor.
