The 5.4L didn't respond well to the larger 2.0-inch headers, though they did manage to match the 500 hp produced by the 1 7/8-inch headers. Compared to the 1¾-inch headers, the larger 2.0-inch headers lost power all the way to 6,200 rpm. For power above 5,000 rpm, the 1 7/8-inch headers would be the way to go, but the 1¾-inch headers offered the best power below 5,000 rpm (where we spend most of our time driving).
