Stroker Ace
Here is our stroker ace completed. We cruised to JDM Engineering to get the 4-1-1 from the crew on the new Three-Valve stroker engines, and they allowed us to help assemble one. Talk about crazy!

3 Valve Stroker
The block used in each JDM Three-Valve stroker build is a standard-issue 4.6 aluminum block. No machine work has to be done to allow the larger stroke crankshaft to swing in the bottom end, so all that's needed is a thorough cleaning before the block is ready for assembly.

Crank
Before the crank is dropped in, Anthony DiSomma of M2 Race Systems, the company that exclusively assembles the JDM stroker short-blocks, puts assembly lube on all of the areas where the crank will sit in the block.

Double Check
Before anything is tightened down all the way, clearances are checked since, with a Three-Valve motor, they are so vital. While the clearance numbers are proprietary, be rest assured that DiSomma checked, then rechecked, all of the figures.

Piston
One of the major differences between the naturally aspirated strokers and the supercharger-specific strokers lies in the pistons used. The piston seen here is of the dished variety, and these are used in the blower motors. The naturally aspirated motors utilize a flat-top piston.

Main Capds
DiSomma installed the main caps next. Once the caps were seated, he ran them through the proper torque procedure. The inner cap bolts are torqued to 60 ft-lb, the outers to 22 ft-lb, and the side bolts to 30 ft-lb plus a 90-degree turn.

Rubbed Motor Oil
DiSomma rubbed motor oil around the piston skirts and, using an ARP 3.552-inch ring compressor, stuffed each piston/rod assembly down their respective bores.

The rod bolts were dabbed in motor oil before hitting them with a torque wrench and tightening them down to 60 ft-lb.
