The exhaust manifolds are bolted to the FRPP heads. Replacement stock head gaskets... Replacement stock head gaskets were ordered from the local dealership. A neat thing about these head gaskets is that they are multi-layer (three layers). Once all the components are... A little oil is added to the head bolts, as is customary when bolting down cylinder heads. Machie torques down the heads... Machie torques down the heads using the step process. This process starts off at 30 ft-lb, then he hits the bolts with a 90-degree turn, and finally the heads are finished off with another 90-degree turn. It is a torque-to-yield bolt, and Machie used a factory sequence. Once the heads are bolted... Once the heads are bolted back in place, the chains are installed. A technique that Machie uses when reinstalling the chains is to bump the engine a quarter turn and place the keyway in the 9 o'clock position. This drops the pistons in the holes and is a security measure to guard against the possibility of the sprocket jumping a tooth. Spinning the cam is a possibility due to the preload of the cam followers. If it did jump a tooth, the pistons would be out of reach of the opening valves. All systems and accessories... All systems and accessories are hooked back up. Inspect for leaky fuel rails, and don't forget to reattach the exhaust system to the exhaust manifolds. All buttoned up and ready... All buttoned up and ready to hit the dyno!
