Air Ride Technologies' CoolRide Air Suspension System - Slam Dunk

Air Ride Technologies provided us with its Strong Arm control arms and Shockwave rear air shocks designed to fit '79-'04 Mustangs. The sticker was inverted; we didn't put it that way.

Installation of the rear suspension components is straightforward. First we bolted in the control arms (not shown) and then turned to the shocks. Here an Eibach rear shock is removed.

Next, the Air Ride lower mounting bracket is installed on the rear housing.

Since the rear shock and its mounts will be supporting the weight of the vehicle, a larger upper shock spacer is used.

With the feed line fitting and the spacer installed the rear Shockwave can be slipped into the shock tower.

Shockwave rear shocks offer 12-way adjustability from firm to soft. Changing settings is as easy as turning the external knob.

The rear suspension took just over one hour to install.

We then lowered the Mustang and began installing the air tank and compressor.
