Installing the kit requires tapping into the computer. It is necessary to splice and solder some wires, but again, the instructions keep you on track.

As we mentioned in the text, this GT was equipped with underdrive pulleys, so we had to reinstall the stock pulleys in order to achieve full boost.

Lacko carefully removed the rubber gaskets that seal the manifold to the heads. These get reinstalled between the blower manifold and the heads.

With the gaskets in place, the blower was lifted onto the engine.

The Saleen supercharger was secured, and we began to reinstall the removed components.

The rubber gasket was transferred from the stock intake to the inlet on the blower, and the throttle body was bolted on.

Once the throttle body was secured, we installed the 39-lb/hr injectors from an '03 Cobra, along with the assorted hoses and the battery box and the battery. The stock injectors work with the base kit, but Joe Amato, the vehicle owner, plans to up the boost from the stock 3.5 psi to as much as 10 psi.

It took a couple days to complete the install, but each component fit well and the GT now drives like a champ.

Our baseline dyno test showed 315 hp, but that was with the underdrive pulleys installed. Normally, these pulleys are worth about 5 hp, so, if you subtract 5 hp, you can safely say the Saleen blower kit was worth 120 hp. It also gained about 76 lb-ft of torque, and that's with a 93-octane tune and only 3.5 pounds of boost.
