XR274R cam vs. XR286R cam
The graph tells the whole story, as the DSS 408 stroker really responded to the larger Xtreme Energy cam upgrade. The larger cam offered more power starting at 4,300 rpm. Out near 6,000 rpm, the power difference was a solid 50 hp. Note that the power fell off only gradually with the XR286R cam. Some 600 rpm past the power peak, the 408 still produced over 550 hp. This same 408 stroker produced 725 hp at just 7 psi of boost, once again demonstrating that the best turbo motors come from healthy normally aspirated motors. View Related Article
