Our primary deviation from using factory-replacement parts was a new camshaft from Comp Cams, P/N 44-702-9. We chose their mild performance 268HR112 grind, which features 0.500-nch lift and 210-degrees intake/218-degrees exhaust duration at 0.050-inch of lift. The larger lobes will help us make some extra power over the stock bumpstick, especially with the 28 cubic-inches of extra displacement. We installed the requisite valve springs to accommodate the higher lift, and also a fresh set of lifters.
