The stock base timing on the test 5.0 was 5 degrees BTDC. This is a conservative setting and often requires no more than 89 octane fuel to run. In stock or near stock trim a 5.0 likes more advance than this. Each motor can vary a little due to production tolerances but 12-14 degrees is typical. This particular 5.0 when tested on Precision Dyno's Dynojet topped out at 12 degrees base timing. View Related Article
