I like the power and response of the auto, but would like to have more control over the shifting when hitting some curving roads. I noticed that Ford will be offering a selectable shift feature on the 2013 models and was hoping that there would be a kit to retrofit it to the '11. It looks like the shifter and surrounding console would be replaced along with a wiring harness/transmision reflash. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Select shift retrofit for 2011 GT automatics? |

Well my question is there a known issue with the kick down or some other deal with the transmission shifting correctly? Mine starts off strong and if you leave it matted it shifts before the rpm's are up enough to move the car. At hiway speeds if you mat it nothing happens except it slowly speeds up and basically dumps all the power into higher gears. No kick down, nothing. I am hoping it is just the kick down linkage or some modular on the outter shell of the transmission? I am really dreading a re-build, but if I do rebuild I will juice it up. Also I have 52K original miles, adult driven and barely rodded on. I'd appreciate some feed back and ideas since my knowledge is on Ford pickups and not stangs. ;)

A4LD (AOD) Transmission |

I checked those previously as that was my first thought. i thought it would be the ignition switch as well but the thing that led me to rule it out was nothing in the car loses power for even a second when it happens. I'm not sure if the inertia switch is the issue as when the car dies out I can let it sit for about 10 minutes and it will turn over again The fuel pump is... i forget the brand/model but its a racing pump with a 3 year warranty on it. and it is outside of the tank so when it turns on you HEAR it, have been able to since day one. Those are excellent diagrams as soon as I get home I will look and see if any of those ground wires maybe the culprit. The hood of my car is a fiberglass cowl so I don't think it would be the battery hitting it. I read somewhere that the distributer was the culprit at some point. but I don't believe that would be the case in mine. I will say that the ignition switch the key part of it whenever I try to turn it it's really hard almost like the key is cut incorrectly for that lock and then I have to. use force when turning to start mode. I replaced the switch that bolts onto the column thinking that was a problem. But now i am thinking a ground or the key cylinder.

92 Stalling over bumps or r/r trax |

I installed ford racing swaybars on my 2011 GT. The front swaybar chassis attach bolts for the are hokey. They are designed for fast and easy installation at the factory, but when swapping out the bars for aftermarket, its a pain the the butt. The bolts have a metal clip attached to the head to keep it from rotating, but if the bolts aren't kept in position during tightening, they will drop our of the slot and rotate making further tightening and loosening of the bolts impossible. I tightened the four bolts per the ford manual. At my next HPDE, the swaybar broke loose from the chassis mounts and tore up the chassis attach bolt holes. My mechanic removed the attach bolts and fabricated a set of nut plates that backed up inside of the chassis. Been to a couple of more HPDE since with no problems. If you're replacing the stock front swaybars with aftermarket, I would recommend installing them using this back-up plate method. Needless to say, I was out of the HPDE for the rest of the day with a front sway bar blowing in the wind.

S197 Front Sway Bar Chassis Attach Issue |

I tried to wet sand my car, and for the most part it looked really good, however I messed up and used 800 grit paper and then went to a 2000 grit. I have very fine scratches in my clear coat, mind you I have a lot left as I watch the painter spray a whole gallon on my car mainly roof and hood. My question is should I go over the clear with 1500 then 2000 and then finish with M101 cutting cream to remove the marks?

Wet sanding question?? |

Royce and Jason Miller, owners of MIR, have been looking to include the NMRA in their awesome racing program for years, and a deal was finally struck to bring the NMRA to the Ford-crazed fans of southern Maryland. As this event replaces the New Jersey stop on the tour with a facility that is large enough to handle the masses of NMRA racers and fans, the expectation is that it will only grow larger in the years to come. MIR's regular program has garnered attention throughout the country as they have been promoting Ford races for years, but the addition of the NMRA to their schedule only enhances the Ford brand for all willing participants. With legendary track preparation on tap every time MIR opens the doors, the expectation is that many NMRA records could fall at this event - so you want to make sure you clear space for it on your calendar! This event will also bring out each of the NMRA's premier heads-up classes - the epitome of Ford drag racing. Many of the NMRA's regulars live within close proximity to Maryland International Raceway and use it for testing, so they may have a leg up on the competition due to their familiarity with the facility - but don't let that fool you! Each racer coming from afar will be looking to take their shot for all the glory on the MIR 1320 in their respective classes and take down those local stars, so get your tickets early for this one - it's sure to be a classic.
