I bought an 01 Mustang GT in September 2012. It has a lot of miles on it, but it is clean and I like it. Eventually, I want to put some work into it. I'm thinking about starting with the suspension and wheels. Everything on it is stock. Can anyone tell me the purpose of deep dish rims and which way I should go as far as trying to improve handling without lowering the height of the car?

New owner |

So may be a small benefit but no real increase in power that can be felt. Install a lower gear such as a 3:73 that will allow the engine to get into the power band quicker and give that seat of the pants feeling. If you want more horsepower a supercharger will give instant response at low rpms..the ones that sit on top of the engine. Concerning the exhaust, listen to an actual Mustang like yours either online or in person so you can make sure you are getting the right sound. I hope this will help you..Geoff at Need for Speed

HELP WITH MY 06 V6 MUSTANG |

The crossmember part was solved by making a new one. The collector on the left side was rubbing against the cross member bracket, fixed that by massaging it with a BFH. Have everything together, so I'll live with it for now till I can get the correct fix.But still wondering how much heat will transfer over from the collector to the trany. Since the replacement, the clutch chatters in first and reverse if the RPM's are below 1500 and the vehicle drivetrain makes a noticable oscilating humming noise in third gear at about 50mph. The car has been back to the dealer twice and they continue to tell me these problems are normal for the updated clutch that was installed in the car. Is this actually the case or is the dealer making up stories so they do not have to fix the problem? Also the vehicle is in need of new shocks and struts. The car is mostly stock and I am wondering what new parts I should get to replce the old? Thank You, Stu

2003 Cobra SVT Convertible |

He has a 302 that was built for performance. The exhaust shops around us (Richland, WA) say that it is against the law to put an exhaust system in with out a catalytic converter. He doesn't want one. Now, I have spent the last 2 hours looking through the RCW's and can not find anything on catalytic converters in cars. I've looked under exhaust and all I can find is laws on how 'loud' your car can be. So I'm looking for any information any of you might have regarding this situation. I'm new to this forum, so go easy on me! :smirk:

Emission Question |

I bought my car in Florida and drove it home to Michigan over 2 days, and anyone who spends that much time in their car is going to find almost every flaw in it. A couple hours after I started driving home I got dinner in a drive-thru, and put my 16 oz cup in the cupholder. Pulling out onto the road, as I shifted into 2nd the shifter hit the top of the cup, popping the lid off and getting coca-cola all over the console and carpet. I was furious, how could Ford have such a terrible design? The second (larger) cupholder is useless, the only thing that can fit into there is a mug, but why on earth would you have a cup of coffee or tea in there as you drive, it is a disaster waiting to happen! The only way to safely hold bottle of water/pop and fast food cups is to wedge it between the passenger seat and the center console. I know the console design changed in 2001, with the cup holders farther back. Would I be able to buy a console from 2001-2004 and just replace mine? Or has anyone come up with their own ideas of holding cups?

1999 Console Swap/Cupholder Issues |
