(November 4, 2009) - Legendary performance icon Gale Banks unveiled his latest project at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week, a full-color, touch-screen onboard computer called the Banks iQ.

The powerful hand held PC is packed with functions and applications for use inside and outside of your vehicle. Use the 5” color touch screen to adjust power levels, control downhill cruising speed, change braking intensity, custom tune numerous performance parameters, measure vehicle performance, read your altitude and GPS corrected speed and more all on the fly!

The Banks iQ also allows you to listen to music, watch videos, play games and review Office documents. The stand-alone device works by opening the inner workings of the vehicle's ECU, letting you see what's beyond your dashboard gauges. Select gauges, set alarms, adjust colors, read and clear codes, log data, measure horsepower, acceleration and more - even play video games that are pre-loaded on the system.

Banks iQ is fully expandable and upgradable. A growing stable of optional micro-computer controlled add-on performance and safety peripherals will be available soon, including: nitrous control, a true on-board dyno system, water/methanol injection, boost control, air density meter, air/fuel ratio meter, propane injection, TransCommand® and more. You'll always be able to run the latest software and download a host of new programs as they become available, too!

As of the unveiling at the SEMA Show the iQ is only available for 20XX - 20XX Ford Powerstroke pickups, but broader applications including a general model for all 1996 - Present vehicles with an OBD2 port will be available soon.

Banks Power is the leader in the design, manufacture and sale of complete high-performance engine and braking systems for both diesel- and gasoline-powered light trucks, SUVs, and motorhomes. Located in Azusa, California, the organization is squarely focused on the future of fuel economy and performance through technological innovation, world- class engineering, and intense product testing. The company celebrated its “first 50” years in business in 2008, and Banks was awarded a Distinguished Service Citation by the Automotive Hall of Fame in January of 2009. www.bankspower.com

The 550 horsepower “Shelby Turbo” package boosts not only the car’s output, but also enhances the handling, braking and looks of the venerable pony car.

“In 1985, Carroll used a turbo to turn Chrysler’s K Car into a rocket,” said Amy Boylan, president of Shelby Autos. “Though we’ve offered supercharged packages for vehicles for several years, many enthusiasts longed for a turbo option because of the different driving characteristics offered with this type of force induction. The Shelby Turbo was created to fulfill that need.”

The turbo was developed with the help of California based Turbonetics. Since 1978, Turbonetics has been the leading source for turbochargers and forced induction components.

“Turbonetics has the unique ability to combine our individual component specialties with precise engine tuning to create incredibly reliable and powerful bolt-on forced induction systems,” said Brad Lewis, president of Turbonetics. “We were excited to work with the Shelby Autos team on designing and engineering a solution that is the first 50 state and CARB compliant turbo system in history for their post-title packages.”

Mustang Racing Technologies of Plymouth was also involved in the program.

“As the vehicle integrator for this project, I was responsible for matching the Shelby brand attribute requirements to the appropriate solution,” stated Scott Hoag, founder and president of MRT. “It was a challenge as the Shelby Autos team wanted the package to be 50 state and CARB compliant while also meeting rigorous performance standards. The result is a robust package that is worthy of the Shelby name.”

The package can be applied to a 2007-09 or Shelby GT 2005-09 Mustang GT at the Las Vegas Shelby facility or one of its mod shops. On its own display area, SMS Superparts showed a virtually unmodified 2010 Ford Mustang with the new SMS 296 Supercharger under the hood, as well as a production version of the 2010 SMS 570X Challenger in Sour Grape Green. Center piece at the impressive display was the SMS 296 Supercharger.

Says Saleen: “We are excited to launch our newest addition to the SMS Supercars family right here at SEMA, where it all happens. To have a strictly SMS Superparts display was a conscious choice on my part. I wanted to underline the importance of the aftermarket business, the passion of the enthusiasts and the true Steve Saleen fans. Right now, SMS Superparts is actively looking for installers around the country, who will be selling Mopar,
Mustang and Camaro enthusiasts the SMS 296 Supercharger™ System and all other performance parts from SMS”.

While the SMS 296 Supercharger System is standard on all SMS Signature Series Cars – the SMS 570 and 570X Challengers and SMS 460 and 460X Mustangs have been launched so far –, it can also be ordered as an aftermarket performance solution through SMS Superparts. Says the Head of SMS Superparts, Jon Clark: “SMS Superparts is your one-stop-shop for all your performance needs, starting with the awesome, patented SMS 296
Supercharger System, through the SMS S4 Suspension, wheel and tire packages, to aerodynamic body parts and our famous SMS Red Butterfly Induction hood. This way, every enthusiast out there with a 2005 or newer Ford Mustang can personalize their car with genuine Steve Saleen designed and produced parts. Only SMS Superparts can rely on Steve’s 30 year experience in racing, development and retail.”

SMS Superparts plans that its nationwide network of retailers and qualified installers in the major markets will become the point of contact for customers purchasing performance components from SMS Superparts and having them installed. SMS 296 Supercharger Systems installed by Steve Saleen-qualified retailers will come with the full factory warranty from SMS Supercars.

While Mr. Saleen expects the SMS Superparts top seller to be the SMS 296 Supercharger System, he envisages that most of his fans will not stop there; “I see people fitting our SMS 296 Supercharger System to an existing Mustang and coming to us for more. We offer high-performance suspension and brake systems, aerodynamically efficient body parts and our patented butterfly hood – which looks and performs great, – as well as smaller components that make each car unique. And for those of you whose partner has one of those cars - Christmas is just around the corner, and you can find everything on our website www.smssupercars.com/superparts.html”, says Steve Saleen with a smile.

Whether he's dishing on the latest in Hip-Hop on New York's Hot 97 or inside the walls of his Bronx, New York Garage talking shop on the latest in car culture, again, people listen.

At this year's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, people will again listen and probably take note as Funkmaster Flex debuts his customized version of the all-new 2010 Taurus SHO.

"Here's a vehicle that has so much history and stands on its own in terms of design and attitude," said Funkmaster Flex. "It's definitely different from anything that I've ever done before. It's much more subdued and doesn't scream at you in terms of its paint job and overall effect. I really took a vehicle that already had everything in terms of its styling and design and gave it a real stealth-like feel."

Earl Lucas, designer of the all-new 2010 Taurus SHO knew exactly what Funkmaster Flex wanted to convey when he met with him in the Bronx during the initial design consultation.

"Flex wanted to put his spin on the vehicle while keeping the Taurus's history and sophistication in mind. What we always strived for when designing the Taurus was something timeless, something for the mature buyer. Flex was able to take that inspiration and customize it in a way that was both timeless and mature," said Lucas.

The exterior of the vehicle features a two-tone black and metal grey paint job complete with custom 22-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle was also lowered with a HR spring kit and a Billet Grille and custom door handles were added.

In addition, the vehicle features a one-off front spoiler and rear window wing. All of the rims and the trim in the vehicle were finished in brushed black chrome. The interior was left the same with the exception of adding a black suede headliner and the signature FMF logos on the headrests.

"Flex really created a design that veered away from what we traditionally expect from him," said Lucas. "He is amazing in what he does and what he ultimately did to this vehicle. Anytime we get a chance to work with Flex it's a big thrill because of the perspective he brings. When you get a chance to work with someone who has perspective on what's new, what's hot and what's now, it's great.

The allure of “the sleeper” sedan
Introduced in 1989, Taurus SHO was conceived as a discreet performance-oriented sports sedan, ideally suited to the automotive enthusiast needing the room and capability of a four-door full-size car. Known and loved for its high performance and unassuming exterior, Ford Taurus SHO was launched in limited production through 1999, with more than 100,000 were sold.

Traditional American high-performance cars shouted their intentions with racing stripes, hood scoops and raised white letter tire sidewalls. Taurus SHO was understated, stealth.

The original Taurus SHO generated a loyal following of owners and enthusiasts, with an active club more than 1,000 members strong, an online forum with more than 10,000 registered users and a Web site (bringbackthesho.com) specifically devoted to convincing Ford to resurrect the SHO. The 2010 Taurus product development team spent significant time listening to SHO enthusiasts.

2010 Taurus SHO off to a strong start
Launched this past summer, the all-new Taurus including the Taurus SHO is off to a strong start and even bucked the industry trend in September with sales 60 percent higher than a year ago.

The Taurus debuted to rave reviews from the automotive press, and early customer demand validates the critical acclaim. Customers are especially interested in the Taurus SHO, achieving higher-than-expected take rates of 20 percent of the overall Taurus mix.

The foundation of the new 2010 Taurus SHO is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. This advanced powerplant generates an estimated 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,500 rpm, resulting in significantly improved power, torque and fuel economy compared with larger, normally aspirated engines. This also is Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost engine.

A key element of the authentic SHO formula is the subtlety of its unique exterior design cues.
Features include sporty premium painted wheels, wrapped in standard low-profile 19-inch Goodyear Eagle or optional 20-inch Michelin high-performance tires, a decklid-mounted spoiler and twin chrome exhaust tips.

J.B. Niday, managing director of Rally America, had not yet experienced a 2010 Mustang at any of his Rally America competitions, but that was about to change.

Niday unselfishly chose to unleash his inner Mustang with Ford's "'10 Unleashed" campaign through his two good friends Mike Hurst, technical director for Rally America, and Mark Utecht, one of Rally America's top two wheel drive competitors.

There are no ovals, pace cars or rain delays in Rally racing. The sport features real cars racing against the clock on closed-off sections of real roads that are usually unpaved and unforgiving. Gravel logging roads, mountain passes, well groomed forest roads are what make up the tracks for rally drivers. Events can last several days and cover hundreds of miles through rain, snow and day or night. A rally car is the ultimate real world sports car: one that is capable of high speed and incredible handling on any road surface and in every weather condition.

Niday organized a head-to-head rally in a 2010 Ford Mustang on four stages of the Ojibwe Forests Rally course – winner takes all. Shortly after Niday announced the "'10 Unleashed" challenge, he asked Utecht what he thought about the competition. He was quick to answer, "I think I'm going to beat him flat out."

Hurst and Utecht are friends off the track and deadly on it. Their "friendly" conversation of recent years has been about who is behind the wheel of the '86 Mustang that Hurst reluctantly sold to Utecht several years ago and this challenge would settle their Mustang rally feud once and for all.

Hurst last drove his cherished '86 Mustang in a rally in February of 2004, Utecht has proved he knows how to drive a Mustang in the woods by winning the Rally America Group 5 class in his region ever since he bought the '86 Mustang from Hurst.

"Big rooster tails, throwing the Mustang through the corners — that's old school rally and that's what we saw during the '10 Unleashed Mustang Rally," said Niday. "That's what the winner will keep doing with his new Mustang and that's what I want people to look forward to when watching a Rally America event."

No major performance modifications were necessary for the Mustang compete in the rally. The major modifications were made to the interior of the vehicle adding a roll cage racing seats and rally computer. The only two modifications made to the exterior were the off-road racing tires and rally car signature HID Light Bar.

"What better place to settle the Mustang rally feud than through the '10 Unleashed campaign," said Steve Ling, car group marketing manager for Ford Motor Company. "Not only was it great to see Mike and Mark settle their score in the rally-prepped 2010 Mustang, but it was also exciting to see the Mustang take on a world where it typically doesn't belong."

To find out who earned lifetime bragging rights and also took home use of the 2010 Mustang for a year, check out the video chronicling Mustang Rally at www.the2010mustang.com.

Customers will now have the choice of two V-8 engines in the Raptor, Ford’s proven 5.4-liter Triton V-8 or the new 6.2-liter V-8, which can be ordered beginning Dec. 1, with an MSRP of $41,995 including destination and delivery.

The F-150 SVT Raptor, launched in August with Ford’s proven 320-hp 5.4-liter Triton V-8, is off to a strong start. Orders for the Raptor equipped with the standard 5.4-liter stand at more than 3,000, and the plant is at maximum capacity producing the ultimate high-speed off-road truck. In addition, Ford Racing will soon offer the 2011 FR Raptor XT, making Raptor even more capable in the rough stuff, but without giving up the control and comfort found in the production Raptor.

Considered an off-road-only pre-runner, the FR Raptor XT from Ford Racing builds upon the production Raptor’s already impressive capabilities. The FR Raptor XT is nearly the same truck that finished the 2008 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, but with all the comfort and convenience you’d find in a production Raptor. Essentially, FR Raptor XT is a turnkey professional pre-runner.

Key specifications of the FR Raptor XT include:

500-hp (est.) 6.2-liter naturally aspirated engine

Six-speed automatic transmission

Electronically selectable 4x4; 4.56 gear sets; front and rear e-lockers

A-arm with uni-ball front; four-link RR suspension

15-inch front/18-inch rear wheel travel

Coil-over with bypass shocks front and rear

Chromoly “4130” rollcage; extensive skid plating

Full featured interior, including power windows/windshield and air conditioning

Factory seating with five-point restraints

Off-road beadlock wheel/tires

Unique appearance package including tubular front and rear bumper and integral lighting

The FR Raptor XT joins Ford Racing’s successful turnkey race Mustangs available only from Ford dealers. There will be a production run of 50 units carrying a price of $99,950. The FR Raptor XT is not street legal, and is intended for off-road use only. Long-time Nitto driver, John Urist, took home his fourth consecutive Super Street Outlaw championship, setting a new record as the only driver to accomplish this feat.

Additionally, Tommy Godfrey won the ACT Factory Stock class championship and Chris Parisi won the JDM Engineering Super Stang class championship. Both drivers were running Nitto’s NT555R D.O.T.-compliant drag radials. All three drivers will be awarded the coveted Nitto Champion Diamond Tree Ring this December.

All three drivers shared excitement and challenges throughout the day. John Urist started off shaky, qualifying fifth behind several strong competitors. Urist said, “This type of racing has never been easy, and it has definitely proven no different this year. By the 3rd round I was qualified last. Therefore I had to be flexible and make changes each round.” As the weekend progressed into the eliminations, Urist also found himself squaring off against John MacDonald who was also vying for the championship. In a much-anticipated run, Urist turned in a quick 7.36-second
pass, which earned him both the round and the championship.

In the ACT Factory Stock class, Tommy Godfrey dominated his class, earning the number one qualifying position. He laid down consistently fast 11-second-flat runs throughout the day, including an unofficial record-breaking pass of 11.03 seconds, which he’ll need to back up to make official. This consistency advanced him through the rounds where he took home both the event win and the season championship.

Chris Parisi came into the season finale with a competitive edge. He led the points in JDM Engineering Super Stang by such a wide margin that he only needed to qualify to clench the championship. After qualifying, he officially
became the championship, and finished nearly 500 points ahead of the second-place finisher.

“We are very proud of each driver,” said Stephen Leu, from Nitto’s marketing department. “They’re all great competitors and proven champions. Tommy and Chris proved how competitive our street-legal drag radials can be right off the shelf.” The Nitto NT555R is constructed to allow the sidewall to flex at the starting line while its semi-racing construction provides maximum traction. For more information on the NT555R or to find a dealer near you, logon to NittoTire.com.

The series will recognize all three drivers at the NMRA awards ceremony held during the PRI show in Orlando, Fla., in mid-December, at which each driver will receive Nitto’s signature Diamond Tree ring. Each year Nitto partners with the NMRA and NMCA to officially recognize each class champion with a coveted championship ring.

Further, the program now permits these vehicles to demonstrate state emissions-compliance requirements."

Over the years, California's complex vehicle registration laws have created confusion for hobbyists and the state employees who administer the regulations. Consequently, certain SCVs may be erroneously registered or titled. SEMA has worked with state agencies to address the interests of all parties, including enthusiasts in the SCV market, so that these vehicles can be properly registered and titled in the state.

"Given the looming threat of prosecution that owners of specially constructed vehicles were facing, SEMA's charge was to find an equitable solution that provided these owners a reasonable period of time to voluntarily re-title their vehicles and pay any necessary back taxes and fees," said SEMA General Counsel Russ Deane. "After five years of work on these issues, an innovative and ground-breaking solution has been created."

Last year, SEMA helped enact into law a program whereby the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) would develop and administer a vehicle registration amnesty program. The amnesty program will be in effect from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 and will apply to vehicles that were previously registered or classified under erroneous or illegal circumstances. Under this new law, the DMV will grant amnesty from prosecution to a vehicle owner if certain conditions are met, including the owner filing a completed application with the department.

More recently, a process was established to allow specially constructed vehicle owners that have been granted amnesty to avail themselves of emissions requirements that recognize the unique nature of these vehicles. While there are still details to be concluded, SEMA has reached a tentative agreement with the state to provide for three methods to achieve compliance.

First, an owner can pay all back taxes and penalties and apply for one of 500 (per year) smog-check exemptions. Under California law, these 500 exemptions for specially constructed vehicles are available each year on a first come, first served basis. For vehicles with an exemption, a smog test referee compares the vehicle to production cars of the era that the specially constructed vehicle most closely resembles to determine the model year. The vehicle owner can then choose whether the inspector will certify the vehicle model year by body type or by the engine model year. Only those emissions controls applicable to the chosen model year are required. California law authorizes a $160 fee for each referee inspection.

Under a second option, SCV owners can pay all back taxes and penalties and then choose to install one of several OEM engines and related powertrain components (including specifications for the construction of a fuel tank and delivery system) that are intended to meet California emissions compliance requirements. GM is currently readying an engine package for this purpose. "In fact, by using one of these engines, it is anticipated that owners of amnesty vehicles will be able to exchange their existing engines for a powertrain that represents the latest in GM's emissions and performance-related technologies," commented SEMA Technical Consultant, Jim McFarland. However, McFarland indicated that because certain variables are involved when configuring any engine or powertrain package for emissions purposes, some measure of compliance risk is involved when such components are installed in a range of vehicle types and conditions.

Finally, working under the banner of the "GreenRod Project" and recognizing that the demand for the 500 exemptions greatly exceeds the supply, SEMA configured a kit of emissions-related aftermarket parts that met California smog-check standards during a series of tests on a project vehicle. An owner can pay all back taxes and penalties and, if the owner is not able to obtain one of the 500 available exemptions, a "retrofit kit" of parts can be installed. Major components in the kit include an aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) system, EFI controller, exhaust headers, camshaft, mufflers and catalytic converters. For the purposes of the GreenRod Project, the retrofit kit was installed on a high-mileage 1980 El Camino fitted with a 1986 carbureted, 5.7 liter engine. The 5.7 liter/350 cubic inch displacement small-block Chevrolet V8 engine is one of the most widely-used engine platforms for all types of specially constructed vehicles.

According to McFarland, "While the engine SEMA used to develop the kit was considered a worst case configuration, it still passed smog-check requirements. Variables such as engine condition, accumulated mileage, and related factors affecting emissions from these parts may, in some cases, cause similar engines not to meet acceptable emissions levels. Nonetheless, transitioning from a carbureted environment to a fuel injected environment while utilizing the latest controller technology and emissions parts upgrades available from the specialty equipment industry resulted in dramatic and unprecedented reductions in tailpipe and evaporative emissions on the test vehicle. The retrofit kit actually improved performance and drivability while not limiting power in a full acceleration mode, compared to a carbureted engine. It was perhaps the first time a package of specialty aftermarket parts has been assembled for the purpose of reducing tailpipe emissions which did not reduce power or performance."

"Given the seriousness of the title and registration issue in California, SEMA's work with the state agencies to create practical solutions for specialty vehicle owners, both now and in the future, is an outstanding accomplishment," said So Cal Speed Shop owner, Pete Chapouris.

How do I know if I need to apply for amnesty?
If you have knowingly made any false statement or knowingly concealed any material fact in any document filed with the Department of Motor Vehicles or the California Highway Patrol, you will need to apply for amnesty. Examples of this would be failing to report the actual value of the vehicle and failure to pay the correct sales tax when the vehicle was first titled/registered in California, or incorrectly stating the actual age of the vehicle. As a further example, a replica of a 1932 Ford built in 2002 is not a 1932 vehicle for the purposes of this California amnesty program. It is a 2002 vehicle. In general, if you have reason to believe that there is erroneous information on your vehicle's title, it should be corrected.

What are the consequences if I do not re-title my vehicle prior to the conclusion of the amnesty period?
If you understated the value of the vehicle to the extent that the State of California lost more than $1,000 in revenue, you could be charged with a felony. If the amount is less or you incorrectly stated the age of the vehicle, you could be charged with a variety of misdemeanors. Recent prosecutions for this type of offense required owners to pay back-taxes and fees averaging $4,000 per vehicle. In some cases, owners were forced to surrender the title to their car. To receive amnesty, any and all back-taxes must be paid in full and the vehicle's title must be factually corrected.

What documentation should I take to the DMV office when applying for amnesty?
Applying for amnesty will re-start the titling and registration process for your specially constructed vehicle. You will need to submit a new DMV 343 Application for Title and Registration form. You will also be required to file a DMV 5063 Statement of Construction form, listing the origin of the vehicle's parts and their purchase price. It would be helpful to have a bill of sale for the vehicle or any appropriate receipts for parts/labor that can be used to establish the actual value of the vehicle. If it is likely that your car had a fraudulent title and will need to pass a smog check, it is advisable to apply for one of the 500 smog check exemptions granted per year by the DMV.

How much should I expect to pay for the "retrofit" kit? How much should I expect to pay for the GM engine and powertrain?
The retrofit kit is a collection of emissions-related parts with specifications developed by SEMA for which a variety of aftermarket manufacturers will be able to supply components. On average, the kit should cost approximately $6,000. The labor to install the package will likely cost an additional $5,000. If you choose to use a new engine and powertrain package from GM, the current LS3 package will retail at an estimated $7,900. GM will also offer a number of other emissions-approved engine packages with a variety of performance options and price levels. Estimated installation cost for the GM system is approximately $6,000.

If I use a GM engine, how will I know if I've used the correct parts and properly installed them?
GM will include comprehensive instructions that leave little room for error. If you feel that you do not have the mechanical experience to install the package, there are local hot rod shops, independent repair facilities and dealerships capable of installing the parts. Even when parts are correctly installed, there are variables involved when attempting to meet certain compliance requirements, such as engine condition, other modifications and related factors that can affect emissions.

If I choose to retrofit my current engine, how will I know that the parts kit will actually enable my car to pass the smog test?
The retrofit kit that SEMA developed consists of emissions-related parts intended for a range of engine displacements. It was designed to work with engines typically used in specially constructed vehicles. In general, these would be carbureted V8 engines manufactured by GM, Ford and Chrysler. Although these parts enabled SEMA's project engine to meet emissions requirements, there is no guarantee that they will allow any engine to meet smog check requirements, depending upon variables that include, but limited to the following: mechanical compression ratio limits, improperly installed catalytic converters, excessive wear (valve guides, piston rings and cylinder bores), piston displacement limits and a mal-functioning EGR system.

Is there a way I can get a pre-certification test check to see if my vehicle will pass the smog test?
Yes. California law allows any licensed smog-check station to conduct a pre-test on your vehicle to determine whether it can pass a loaded mode smog test before you submit the car for inspection at a BAR Referee station. The average price for a pre-certification smog test in California is approximately $49. If your vehicle fails the pre-certification smog check, it may be possible to make adjustments that will bring it into compliance. As with any vehicle maintenance, it's best to use a mechanic you know and trust.

What if I have questions about technical aspects of this program?
SEMA and GM will be available to provide some immediate technical assistance for enthusiasts who apply for amnesty to help them navigate through the process. SEMA has begun communicating with builders of SCVs and engines, enabling them to respond to the most common questions from enthusiasts. SEMA will also compile additional guidance information. These approaches will help expedite solutions to SCV owners seeking to meet California smog-check requirements.

Additionally, F-150 SVT Raptor was named best "Full-size Pickup Truck."

"Winning the Truck of Texas is a distinct honor," said Mark Fields, president, The Americas, Ford Motor Company. "Texans know their trucks, and this award is further proof of why the F-Series remains America's number-one selling pickup. We built F-150 SVT Raptor for truck enthusiasts. And we're gratified it's gaining recognition for both its unequaled off-road performance and confidence-inspiring on-road demeanor."

Ford trucks also took the "Truck Line of Texas," a distinguished honor recognizing the best-in-class capability and durability of Ford's lineup.

Another top honor, "Outstanding Feature," went to Ford Work Solutions, a suite of productivity technologies developed for the commercial truck owner. The system includes an in-dash computer that connects with the home office; Tool Link that keeps track of costly tools and equipment; Cable Lock, which locks up tools in the open truck box; and Crew Chief, a telematics system, giving the fleet manager more control of his/her fleet of vehicles.

Ford F-150 delivers class-leading towing capability of 11,300 pounds and hauling capacity of 3,030 pounds – a combination no other competitor can match.

With the launch of the all-new 2009 model, the truck improved its fuel economy by an average of 8 percent across the entire lineup, thanks to a wide range of engineering enhancements. The fuel economy gains reach as high as 12 percent versus the prior model year on F-150 models equipped with the high-volume three-valve, 5.4-liter V-8 engine. Plus, the F-150's SFE package – which is available on highest-volume XL and XLT series – delivers unsurpassed fuel economy of 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

This summer, Ford introduced the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor, designed as a purpose-built, high-speed off-road truck ready for adventure. Raptor also is versatile enough to handle the daily commute. To test the capability and durability of Raptor, Ford took a modified pre-production Raptor to the grueling 41st Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 this past November. The early-build Raptor not only survived Baja, it earned a podium finish in its class.

Key enablers to the Raptor's impressive performance are functional design cues and impressive suspension technology. The Raptor is seven inches wider than a base F-150 to make room for the additional suspension components that give Raptor its off-road abilities. The wider stance also gives the truck an aggressive appearance.

Internal triple-bypass shocks by FOX Racing Shox – the first on a production truck – provide position-sensitive damping and extra suspension travel for extreme off-roading and a smooth ride on the road. In addition to the shocks, Raptor has unique cast-aluminum front control arms and SVT-tuned 35-inch BFGoodrich® All-Terrain TA/KO 315/70-17 tires. These components give Raptor 11.2 inches of front suspension travel and 12.1 inches of rear suspension travel.

The F-150 SVT Raptor comes standard with the proven 5.4-liter SOHC V-8 engine that produces up to 320 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. of torque. In early 2010 customers will have the option of an even more powerful new 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

Customer anticipation has been extremely high, with 3,000 orders already received for the 5.4-liter F-150 SVT Raptor. In fact, initial dealer orders have the Dearborn Truck Plant building Raptors at maximum capacity, reflecting the strong demand for the first-ever factory high-speed off-road truck.

Starting price for the F-150 SVT Raptor is $38,995 including destination and delivery charges.

In total, Ford won eight of 18 awards, including Lincoln MKX as "Mid-size CUV," Ford Flex as "Full-size CUV," and Ford F-150 King Ranch as "Luxury Pick-up Truck," and Ford Expedition as "Full-size SUV."

Beginning in October, Best Buy stores in Texas will conduct a pilot program involving more than 30 Best Buy locations where consumers will be able to experience live SYNC demos and Ford, Lincoln and Mercury customer clinics. The SYNC demos will show participants how their mobile phones can interact with the voice-activated system, while customer clinics will help new Ford customers improve their understanding of SYNC capabilities using their actual phones and vehicles. Local dealers will participate to offer additional expert assistance on SYNC.

“With the ever-changing technology landscape, it was a strategic decision to work with Best Buy to provide our customers another expert resource on the Ford SYNC platform,” said John Felice, general manager, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury Marketing. “As we expand the capabilities of SYNC, we will need to educate our customers on the full benefits and expanded services of newly added applications. We couldn’t think of a better way for consumers to learn about new SYNC features than from the experts at Best Buy that they’ve learned to trust.”

Local dealers will remain the primary touch point for consumers interested in purchasing SYNC; however, Best Buy Mobile experts will serve as another resource for consumers looking to learn more about the compatibility of their mobile devices. Under the agreement, Best Buy Mobile associates will provide Ford owners with phone pairing information, helping them get comfortable with SYNC and enabling them to either connect their existing handset or choose a compatible mobile phone.

Best Buy also will include Ford SYNC mobile phone compatibility results in its monthly Best Buy Mobile Buyer’s Guide to identify which of the latest mobile devices work seamlessly with Ford SYNC. The ratings are based on phone compatibility tests conducted by Best Buy’s tech services unit Geek Squad, and are updated frequently. The SYNC ratings can also be found at www.syncmyride.com.

“We have a strong belief that mobile technology should serve people and help them stay connected whether it’s at home, at work or in the car,” said Best Buy Mobile President Shawn Score. “We are excited to partner with Ford to educate consumers on its SYNC technology. Best Buy Mobile helps thousands of consumers every day get connected with mobile devices and services that make their lives better, and now we’re ready to do the same thing for Ford SYNC users.”

National SYNC ad campaign rolls out
Earlier this month, Ford Motor Company launched its new advertising campaign for SYNC, called “SYNC: Say the Word,” to further increase awareness around its current voice-activated applications. The SYNC ads will target young, tech-savvy drivers and appear in various print and online mediums.

“SYNC: Say the Word” will feature robotic “voice agents” that act as personal assistants as voice commands are activated. There will be a total of nine robots that will each showcase the various applications of SYNC including turn-by-turn navigation, 911 Assist, music search, audible text message reading, hands-free calling, business search, Vehicle Health Report, real-time traffic and My Favorites – news, sports, weather.

To complement print advertisements, Ford will also release 30-second video spots with select robotic voice agents to build awareness of how each SYNC application can be activated by simple voice command. The company will also make available a total of 11 instructional videos that highlight each SYNC feature on its redesigned consumer education Web site, which can be found at http://www.fordvehicles.com/innovation/sync/.

“With the cadence of new product releases, we’ve found it is essential to assist our consumers with education on features, benefits and usage,” said Felice. “While very intuitive, we’ve taken a proactive approach to SYNC marketing because it’s important that consumers understand just how SYNC has evolved beyond voice-activated music controls. Through these efforts, Ford has provided a touch point for drivers both online and offline to help maximize their driving experience while staying connected to the information they want, when they want it.”

As SYNC capabilities expand, more experts essential
Ford SYNC seamlessly integrates a variety of technologies such as an onboard text-to-speech engine, a customer’s mobile phone and network, data-over-voice technology, an off-board routing engine and voice portal. Combined, these technologies enable:

Voice dialing allows users to press the “Push to Talk” button on the steering wheel, then say the name of the person they wish to call. SYNC will automatically connect with the names in the mobile phone’s contact list.

Voice control of MP3 devices lets users browse the music collection on a connected digital media player, mobile phone or USB drive by genre, album, artist and song title using simple voice commands, such as “Play Genre Rock,” “Play <artist>” or “Play Track <song title>.”

911 Assist can place a call directly to a local 911 emergency operator in the event of an accident involving the activation of an air bag or, on certain vehicles, the emergency fuel pump shutoff. If an occupant cannot respond, SYNC can deliver a recorded message to the 911 service to alert an operator that a crash has occurred.

Vehicle Health Report gives customers the ability to monitor and manage their vehicle’s health in a single, easy-to-read report and receive important notifications. The report includes diagnostic systems’ statuses, scheduled maintenance, needed repairs from the last dealership visit, and will even alert owners of any open recalls.

Traffic, Directions & Information, SYNC’s newest application, can deliver personalized traffic reports, precise turn-by-turn driving directions and up-to-date information including business listings, news, sports and weather – without the need for a built-in or aftermarket navigation system.

New SYNC applications introduced in 2009 have dramatically expanded the system’s capabilities, and continue to set the standard for ease of use. SYNC allows customers to move seamlessly between their home, car and office, staying connected wherever they go.

Third quarter revenue was $2.1 billion, down from $2.7 billion a
year ago.

Europe: For the third quarter, Ford Europe reported a pre-tax operating profit of $193 million, compared with
a profit of $69 million a year ago. The improvement was more than explained by structural cost reductions,
lower material costs and favorable net pricing, offset partially by unfavorable volume and mix and exchange.
Third quarter revenue was $7.6 billion, down from $9.7 billion a year ago.

Asia Pacific Africa: For the third quarter, Ford Asia Pacific Africa reported a pre-tax operating profit of
$27 million, compared with a profit of $4 million a year ago. The increase primarily reflects favorable net
pricing, China joint venture profits, and cost reductions, offset partially by unfavorable exchange. Third quarter
revenue was $1.5 billion, down from *** billion a year ago.

Volvo: Volvo continues to be reported as an ongoing operation. The effects of “held-for-sale” accounting-
related adjustments are reported as special items. In Europe, Ford now expects that full-year industry sales will be
about 15.7 million units, which is higher than its previous guidance.

Ford expects fourth quarter 2009 production to be up compared with year-ago levels and third quarter 2009
production. This increase is to return to planned dealer stock levels and match production with market demand
for Ford products.

Ford now expects full-year Automotive structural cost reductions of about $5 billion, exceeding its full-year
2009 target. These costs were reduced by $4.6 billion through the first nine months. Going forward, Ford
expects structural costs to be relatively stable as the company has largely completed its significant restructuring
actions over the past four years.

The company said it expects full-year U.S. and Europe market share to remain at about the same levels
achieved during the first nine months.

Ford expects Automotive operating-related cash flow to be positive in the fourth quarter, based on the
company’s present planning assumptions.

Ford now expects capital spending of about $5 billion, or slightly less. Capital expenditures through the first
nine months were $3.4 billion; higher projected fourth quarter spending reflects the timing of Ford’s product
launches as the company maintains its product plans.

Ford Credit expects to be profitable in the fourth quarter and for the full-year 2009. Next year, Ford Credit
expects reduced profits based on lower average receivables and the non-recurrence of favorable 2009 factors.

Based on its recent performance and present planning assumptions, Ford is changing its full-year 2011
guidance for total company and North American Automotive operations from being “breakeven or better” to
“solidly profitable” on a pre-tax basis excluding special items, with positive Automotive operating-related
cash flow.

While the company has confidence that the global economy will be improving by 2011, the near-term growth
outlook remains rather uncertain. Looking at 2010, there is a high likelihood of a substantial decrease in
European industry volume as scrappage programs expire. This decrease could more than offset U.S. sales
volumes, which may improve somewhat from this past quarter’s levels.

Ford expects to know more about the state of the global economic recovery and its impact on 2010 auto
industry volumes in the coming months. Early next year, Ford will provide guidance on its 2010 planning
assumptions and operational metrics when the company releases its full-year 2009 results.

“The third quarter is one the entire Ford extended team can be proud of because it proves that our product-led
transformation is working,” Mulally said. “Leading indicators are now showing signs of recovery in all of our
major markets, however, consumer confidence and labor market conditions remain a concern.

“Despite the continued economic headwinds, we remain confident that we have the right plan and are taking the
right actions to transform Ford into a lean company that delivers profitable growth for all our stakeholders,”
Mulally added.

Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader based in Dearborn, Mich., manufactures or
distributes automobiles across six continents. With about 200,000 employees and about 90 plants worldwide,
the company’s brands include Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Volvo. The company provides financial services
through Ford Motor Credit Company. For more information regarding Ford’s products, please visit
www.ford.com.

+ The financial results discussed herein are presented on a preliminary basis; final data will be included in Ford's Quarterly
Report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2009. “Net income” and “Net loss” herein refer to “Net
income/(loss) attributable to Ford” on our Statement of Operations, reflecting new presentation required by new accounting
standards. 2008 results have been adjusted for the effect of new accounting standards, and for the reclassification of certain
Financial Services sector revenue items. Discussion of overall Automotive cost changes, including structural cost changes
(e.g., manufacturing and engineering, pension/OPEB, overhead, etc.), is at constant exchange and excludes special items and
discontinued operations. In addition, costs that vary directly with production volume, such as material, freight, and warranty
costs, are measured at constant volume and mix.
