The words "fast" and "Mercury" are not commonly used in the same context. Or at least they haven't been since the NASCAR Cyclones of the late '60s. Most MM&FF readers don't remember those cars, or like your author, weren't even born yet. In fact, you're more likely to relate a Mercury to your grandparents driving to the grocery store or bingo, than to a powerful beast screaming down the dragstrip.

Los Angeles is most commonly known for its movie stars and beaches, but it also has a dark side consisting of gangs and riots. So it goes without saying, being an officer for the LAPD is not a job for the meek or mild. Officer Ricardo Lizarraga was a well-liked and respected police officer for the LAPD. On February 20, 2004, Officer Lizarraga and his partner responded to a domestic disturbance. While at the residence, a man pulled out a gun and opened fire. Officer "Lizzy" Lizarraga was struck in the abdomen and later died from the wound.

Bringing a new product to market is a big deal for any of the companies in the Mustang aftermarket. The right debut is an effective way to highlight what's different and special-it also defines how your products separate you from the competition. Hence, when ATI/ProCharger launched its new HO Intercooled supercharger system for the Three-Valve Mustang in 2008, its introduction to the public needed to be something special, and what better place than Sin City.

In the spring of 1988, Lidio Iacobelli took his then-girlfriend, Lucy, to the Ford dealership to purchase a new Mustang. Although he desperately tried to talk her out of buying the yellow coupe with an AOD that she had picked out, Lucy got her way, and the order was placed for a Tropical Yellow notch with an automatic. During the debate on colors and options, however, Lidio did get his way and the car was ordered with no air conditioning. "Once the car came in, it only took one glance to realize the uniqueness of this car," Lidio explains. "I knew this car was very different and would stick out in a crowd-but in a good way."

After a brief introduction to road racing, Tom knew he enjoyed the twisties. So when the task up of upgrading the rearend was upon him, he decided upon an independent rear suspension. The phrase "Drive One" resonates much louder today in the corporate offices of NHRA as it was announced that the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body has signed a multi-year agreement with Ford Motor Company, designating the legendary automaker as the "Official Car and Truck of the NHRA."

There is no exact formula for producing big power. With the limitless amount of combinations, it's very common to see some wild street Stangs everywhere you go. It's not outside the norm to see 800hp GT500s,Terminator Cobras, and 500-600hp 4.6L Three-Valve GTs-all done with simple bolt-in parts.
