For the NMRA, a trip to Bowling Green, Kentucky means the points season is coming to an end. Tension is usually high throughout the pits as racers fight for every possible point towards his or her championship hopes. Story lines play out, and ultimately race winners and champions are crowned. Some head home elated, while others fight the feeling of defeat.

On August 21, 2011, AmericanMuscle.com (AM) hosted the third of its annual charity car shows. Deleware County Community College in Media, Pennsylvania, played host to AM's largest show to date--with all the proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warriors Project.

The 33rd annual Ford Expo NMRA event in Columbus, Ohio, brought over 200 racers to historic National Trail Raceway. Nearly 40 racers showed up for the popular Tremec True Street category, presented by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine, with a variety of street machines ready to race, all with one thing in common--street driveability.

One look at the horsepower wars between the current crop of modern muscle cars and it's undeniable, the muscle-car era is in full attack mode with all guns blazing. And Ford leads to assault with its new 650 hp GT500 sporting a 5.8-liter modular motor topped with a TVS2300 blower that's good for 200-plus mph?

For decades, the now- defunct Detroit Dragway served as the quarter-mile proving grounds for the Big Three. Then in 1998, the "Dirty D" closed and never reopened. Sadly, the spot that once hosted Detroit's finest is now a row of warehouses.

Despite a rich history chock-full of car culture, in recent years California has lacked a serious gear-jammin’, all-encompassing, sanctioned event that enthusiasts could really get behind. This all changed when the NMRA and the NMCA combined to create the first West Coast Shootout at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California.

Fun Ford Weekend officials announced the 2012 event schedule today as well as the officers who will be leading the series as it prepares to enter its second season under new management. Having just completed a five-event 2011 season, the Fun Ford Weekend shows, presented by Roush Yates and JE Pistons were a resounding success with racers, car show participants and spectators.

Each year, Knott's Berry Farm opens its gates to Ford enthusiasts from all over the country for the largest Ford-only show on the West Coast- Fabulous Fords Forever, which marked its 26th year. The 2011 show was full of history and heritage as it celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Pantera and Pinto, and also the 45th anniversary of the Bronco and 50th anniversary of the Econoline.

The battle of good versus evil has raged on for millions of years... Well, perhaps millions of years is a slight exaggeration, but as long as humans have been around, there have been lines drawn and sides taken due to differences of opinion. This light side/dark side mentality also crosses into the automotive lifestyle.

Not since 1974 have the Big Three all been competing in the ponycar market. When Chevy brought back the Camaro (a seven-year task, apparently) in 2010, the trifecta was complete. This corporate "pony war" sparked a consumer-fueled feud that has surprisingly brought more camaraderie than warfare.

NHRA Division 1 sportsman racer Doug Doll, Jr. will be competing at the upcoming NHRA U.S. Nationals in Jeff Kundratic's Lucas Oil-sponsored '02 Ed Quay Super Comp dragster. Doll, Jr. is also receiving help from Kubicke Photography.

The 5th Annual JE Pistons NMCA Muscle Car Nationals at Milan Dragway played host the Ford Racing Performance Parts Cobra Jet Showdown. The event was held from August 26th - 28th, and MM&FF's editor, Evan J. Smith, took to the track behind the wheels of Anthony Bongiovanni's multi-colored '08 CJ, which has graced the pages of MM&FF as feature car (Applied Intelligence, September, 2011).

Fans of MM&FF can follow Editor Evan Smith and Anthony Bongiovanni (MM&FF feature car owner, Applied Intelligence, September, '11) as they will be competing back-to-back weekends. The duo will start at the NMCA event in Milan, MI at the Ford Racing Cobra Jet Invitational, and then move on the 57th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil September 1-5.

With 25 years of building trend-setting street, track, and race performance Ford vehicles, Kenny Brown is celebrating the way any racer would--at a race track. To officially relaunch the Kenny Brown Performance brand back into the innovation-hungry Mustang and Ford aftermarket, Brown and his team will be conducting a special two-day open track and performance driving school at Putnam Park Road Course, September 9-11, 2011. The event is open to all driving enthusiasts, makes and models of cars and especially, Kenny Brown-prepared vehicles from the past 25 years.

As the rain set in at Atco Raceway on the second day of the three-day event, the NMRA-Keystone Drag Racing Series officials looked at the weather satellite image with grave concern. "There is a 70 percent chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday," grumbled Charlie Harmon, president of the event division of the NMRA organization.

July 19, 2011 marked the start of one of the most anxiously anticipated weeks on a Mustang enthusiast's calendar. Every year, Mustang fans young and old flock to South Carolina's Myrtle Beach for six days of cruise-ins, track days, and all-out chaos. This year marked the 10th consecutive year since the birth of Mustang Week, with people driving from as far away as Texas and Maine to attend. Some people made the trek days before events began to give themselves time to enjoy the beautiful beaches like we did, and others arrived later to attend the more popular end-of-the-week festivities.

"Thank you for bring this series back!" was the tone of the event, as racers, show car owners, and fans celebrated the return of Fun Ford Weekend to the national stage at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado, located just outside of Denver.

• In 2011 Ken Block is taking Gymkhana to the people with the inaugural Gymkhana World Tour featuring stops in Austria, Australia and the United States.
• Designed to bring the Gymkhana experience to a live audience, each GWT stop will be unique not only in its location but in the content and layout of the Gymkhana course.
• Out of each stop on the tour, Monster World Rally Team will create mini Gymkhana videos which will showcase the event.

When the NMRA and NMCA team up for a dual event, the show is always exciting. An amazing mix of Ford and Brand-X race cars combine to equal blistering-fast on-track action, a packed manufacturer's midway, and an amazing array of flawless show cars, which made the 3rd Annual Nitto Tires NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals the Southeast's Mustang and muscle car event of the year.

The Inaugural JE Pistons NMRA/NMCA West Coast Shootout, presented by Lucas Oil, is all set to go at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, the weekend of July 8-10, 2011. Because of recent noise restrictions imposed upon the track, NMRA/NMCA will not be able to run Pro Street and Outlaw 10.5, classes previously planned, however the rest of the classes can all run as long as all competitors have mufflers on their vehicles for the entirety of the event. NMRA & NMCA will showcase Hot Street, Xtreme Drag Radial, Wild Street, Open Comp, Mustang Madness, RASR True Street Challenge, West Coast Shootout, Sportsman Brackets, and Street Brackets...all racing for glory down the 1/4 mile!
