1996 Ford Mustang Suspension Upgrade Tie Rod Ends
12 The factory tie-rod ends were removed and replaced with the MM adjustable end designed to allow bumpsteer corrections with lowered vehicles. Bumpsteer is a situation where the steering toes in or out as the control arm moves through its arc. The idea behind the adjustable tie-rod ends is to have the arc of the tie-rod end match that of the control arm.

14 Since it was necessary to unbolt the factory motor mounts while performing the K-member swap, we took the liberty of replacing the worn-out stock pieces with a set of urethane motor mounts. The MM urethane motor mounts minimize engine move-ment to help improve power delivery.

16 Once again, measurements were taken to properly orient the K-member. This was accomplished by using a string and plumb bob to designate the K-member relative to a fixed position. The idea was to ensure the K-member was square in the chassis (an equal distance from each side of the rear axle) before bolting it in place.

18 The front coilover assembly came next. Its front strut/spring combination consisted of a 375-pound coilover spring installed on a Bilstein strut (with sport valving). The threaded sleeve allowed adjustments to the ride height.
