The things enthusiasts have done with the '12 Boss 302 in the short time it's been available is nothing short of incredible.
There have been Bosses making 1,000 horsepower with little more than some fuel system upgrades and a lot of boost--we've even seen E85 conversions, where a near factory-stock version has made 450 rwhp!
Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) has been known for some wild custom builds. Knowing it was a solid platform, the GAS team decided to take advantage of it and build a unique version of the Boss that blended the production car with concept-car looks, and race car power--the result was the Boss 302-X.
Nine extra inches were added to the front and rear, giving this Boss a unique look. The wide-body kit was hand made, and it's all metal. The extra clearance allowed GAS to ditch the factory wheels (19x9-inch front, 19x9.5-inch rear) for 20s with much more rubber. The new custom rolling stock measures 20x11-inches up front, with 295/35R20 Pirelli tires, and 20x13.5-inch hoops with 335/30R20 Pirellis out back. The car is lowered 1.5 inch thanks to lowering springs from Ford Racing, which combined with the wider tires equal more grip with a super-aggressive look.
This one-off Boss isn't just about looks. GAS added a healthy amount of boost from ProCharger centrifugal supercharger, which brought horsepower to 780 rwhp. If you don't see it coming, the Borla axle-back exhaust will most certainly catch your attention. Speaking of seeing it coming, GAS coated the car in a wild, custom matte tangerine pearl finish from PPG. All of the Boss marking have been retained and applied in paint, with the Boss 302-X emblem on display on each front fender.
The interior was also treated to some upgrades. The factory Boss Recaros have been custom embroidered with Boss 302-X. A Leguna Seca gauge pod sits on top of the dash, and an Autopower rollcage keeps the occupants safe.
When it comes to custom performance vehicles, not many companies do it like Galpin Auto Sports. The combination of power, style, and one-off hand craftsmanship is second to none, and shines through in the details of each car it builds. With a car as impressive as the Boss 302-X, we can't wait to see what comes next!
