During our photo shoot, Eric's buddy Barry Doyle brought out his Hyabusa, and it is downright scary. Just looking at the stretched frame and hearing the worked motor would put the fear of God in most competitors. The nitrous system is the icing on the cake. This bike sure wasn't meant to be just a cruiser. With the bottle activated it runs 8.30s, and 8.80s are the norm off the jug. Eric and Barry have matched up against each other on late nights, and let's just say the bike had nothing for the Stang. The green machine pulled clean past the lightweight rocket. All runs were made from a 40-mph roll. Both agreed if they raced at the dragstrip, the bike would destroy the Cobra. But from a roll, things are different, just so long as the drag radials don't go up in smoke.
If you roll up on this innocent-looking Cobra from the Atlanta area, just remember-we told ya so!
This is no ordinary mod-motored Cobra. With 892 verified rear-wheel horsepower and estimates of even more in current street trim, this Stang instills fear of the Blue Oval in all. | Just bring it. It doesn't matter what you have in your driveway, Eric's Cobra is ready to run. | With over 900 hp and gobs of torque at the tires, Eric relies on a Tremec TKO 600 and McLeod dual disc clutch/pressure-plate setup. Despite not being built for quarter-mile racing, this Cobra will still run low nines at 150-plus mph. |
