With the car completed and dialed in with 9 pounds of boost, Ross decided to bring his silver GT to the track, and managed to clip off a few 11.20s at 120 mph on slicks until the stock rear gave up the ghost. He then brought the car back to the CCS Tuning dyno. With a new rear axle in place and 15 pounds of boost, he was rewarded with 602 rwhp and 615 lb-ft of torque with 13 degrees of initial timing. He's expecting to go back to the track to earn himself some 10-second timeslips. We're sure that's an easily attainable goal.
But it won't stop there, especially when you've got massive boost potential available at your fingertips. Next on the gameplan will be to turn up the wick to 22 psi, and from what Ross tells us, he's expecting 800 rwhp. From our experience, that's a reasonable horsepower figure at double-deuce boost. This is a perfect example of how a well-built engine greatly benefits from a stockpile of efficient boost and proper tuning.
Turbos are no longer a mystery. They have proven themselves, they've been supported by the aftermarket for three decades, and pricing has become more reasonable. It has become apparent that everyone-we're talking Pro 5.0 racers and regular guys like you and me-should embrace turbos and go out and get them for their ride. While you're at it, get two, and be prepared to kick some serious butt.

The stock leather interior...

The stock leather interior is more of an information console than anything else. Auto Meter Lunar Series gauges offer information on boost, fuel pressure and air/fuel ratio, while the in-dash Auto Meter gauge cluster provides all the other pertinent data.

Aside from the vinyl decals...

Aside from the vinyl decals on the rear window, nothing would clue anyone in to the car's horsepower potential. Massive 315/35/17 Goodyears on 17x10.5 FR500 wheels are used for street duty, but slicks are used at the dragstrip. Speaking of which, it runs 11.20s at 120 mph on a pump-gas-friendly 9 psi. It hasn't been back to the 1,320 since making over 600 rwhp at 15 psig, but 10s are easily within reach.
