Spy photos of the camouflaged 2015 Ford Mustang have been spreading across the web like wildfire over the past few months. The most recent photos show what could be the 2015 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 or some sort of Cobra-badged Mustang model seen on the streets of Detroit entering Ford’s SVT facilities.
This time around, it appears that the camouflage isn’t as tight fitting as previous spy photos. It also looks like some new mesh panels have been added to cover up what looks like a hood scoop and fender vents behind the front wheels. This could mean that the vents hiding behind the mesh may actually be functional rather than purely cosmetic.
Another reason to believe that this could be the 2015 Shelby GT350 Mustang mule is the large cross-drilled rotors hiding behind the larger wheels wrapped with aggressive tires. Moving on to the rear and this prototype sports quad exhaust tips and according to the photographer, the exhaust “makes a fantastic rumble.” The photographer was able to get a close-up of the prototype’s steering wheel, which seems to feature a plethora of redundant buttons.
We still don’t know what the powertrain options are for the new Ford Mustang since the Shelby GT500’s supercharged 5.8L will not be an option for the new S550 platform. A few of the possibilities for the new Ford Mustang GT350 is a supercharged 5.0L V-8 or possibly a twin-turbo 5.0L V-8 that was displayed inside Ford’s Cobra Jet at last year’s SEMA show.
