Big Apple Street Racing
|
Operation Hermes was the Queens District Attorney's and NYPD's answer to an out of control street racing problem in the New York City borough of Queens. By adding street racing to the list of Quality of Life issues in 1997-98 the 20 police officers went undercover to infiltrate the scene. Using video surveillance they eliminated the action on Francis Lewis Boulevard and other area street racing zones. The Quality of Life laws allowed the city to impound cars and keep them. These two Mustangs were acquired in that dragnet and are still actively used on patrol and in public relation events. View Related Article
