Sensation Of Speed: Track Guys Performance Driving Events Sebring Sensation

As performance enthusiasts, the MM&FF staff thrives on mashing the gas, both in a straight line and in the curves. For us, one highlight is attending the Track Guys Performance Driving Events Sebring Sensation in May at nearby Sebring International Raceway, located about 80 miles from our headquarters.

"This past summer's event marked the 10th consecutive year for us at the historic Sebring International Raceway," said Track Guys' owner and lead instructor Jeff Lacina. "It's been a lot of fun (and hard work) in growing this event into one of the premier driver education events that the track hosts each year."

Track Guys does indeed provide a wonderful high-speed driver-education program, in fact you never know who you will meet or what types of cars you will see. Like most track events, there is a friendly atmosphere at the hotel, in tech, in the pits, and at the banquet.

Lacina continued: "We've been adding some new elements to this event as well, including a car show, rear-wheel dyno, some vendors/speed shops, and of course, parade laps for all participants (driving school and car show) during the lunch break on both days. We are looking forward to going back in May 2013 and starting our next 10 years of Track Guys events at Sebring."

"As a driver, you always want to challenge yourself and your skills, and Sebring certainly presents a number of challenges to drivers of all skill levels. There are high-speed turns, slow turns, and some turns that can reach out and bite you if you're not taking them properly.

"Of course, Sebring is also about speed -- big speed. Of the two long straights, the Uhllmann Straight is the fastest and leads into Sunset Bend, or Turn 17. This turn has a very high entry speed, some rough spots near the apex, and is a challenge to get right because you can't see the apex or exit of the turn when you enter it.

"All of us at Track Guys really enjoy hosting our driving school at Sebring, because it combines a historic and challenging track with a modern facility that adequate garage space for our participants, a world-class hotel and restaurant right beside the track, and a very nice media center for our classroom sessions. And of course, being in central Florida, we draw cars from all over the state, as well as the Southeast and East Coast of the United States."
