It was a hot and sunny day in Pompano Beach, Florida, where Steeda Autosports hosted its 13th annual Steeda Stampede on September 15.
The MM&FF crew headed down Friday afternoon from our Tampa headquarters and met with some of the Steeda personnel to give us a tour of what goes on behind the scenes at the Steeda facility. It was a site to take in. Though much of the machining and development of new products now takes part in Steeda’s new headquarters in Valdosta, Georgia, the Pompano facility is where Steeda built its name and reputation.
Regardless of the heat, turnout was nothing short of small. With an excess of over 120 Mustangs and Fords registered, and over 300 attendees, the parking lot reached its maximum capacity. Mustang enthusiasts swarmed all over the facility, admiring the vast array of other Mustangs and Fords on display. Tours were given of the facility, as well as give-away promotions to the enchanted attendees. Steeda had its collection of factory Steeda cars on hand—including its various race cars, Sema show cars, and its new road-race warrior and Steeda certified ’13 Boss 302 Laguna Seca.
As any Mustang enthusiast can relate to, purchasing performance parts can get expensive. For those seeking a hefty discount, attendees headed over to “Franks Garage” where a garage filled with discounted parts and prices could be had. Rims, tires, exhaust systems, and exterior parts sold for pennies on the dollar. From new to used, there was something for everyone.
For those wanting to show off their Pony’s power, attendees had the opportunity to dyno their Stangs. We saw everything, from old-school Fox-bodys, to Coyotes howling their way to some big horsepower numbers.
As the afternoon approached it was time to switch gears and head over to Palm Beach International Raceway, where the Steeda Stampede would join up with the Fun Ford Weekend events. Stampede participants had an opportunity to yet again show off their Stangs in another car show, or if they wanted to flex their muscles even further, they could participate in the Pony War drag race class.
Indeed, the Steeda Stampede was a thrill for us. Whether it was the mild to wild Stangs showing themselves off in the car shows, or the battle of top dog at the dragstrip, we certainly enjoyed the masses and couldn’t have had a better time!
