2007 Fords At Englishtown - Fun On Race Day

Long-time east Coast Ford campaigner John Giambertone made it all the way to the semifinals of the 10.0-second index category wheeling his '65 Mercury. Unfortunately, he lost a close race to eventual winner Craig Curtis.

John Rufrano picked up Charlie Greco Jr.'s old ride and has been wheeling and dealing with the car ever since. Rufrano competed in Open Comp with his low-nine-second '98 Mustang GT, but took a first-round loss.

Jim Conte Jr. brought his NHRA-legal, high-flying, low-10-second '69 428 Cobra Jet Mustang for a few runs down the Raceway Park quarter-mile.

The 11.0-second index class final saw the '95 Mustang GT of Robin Geiser (far lane) take on the silver '00 Mustang GT of Steve Powell (near lane). Both drivers recorded identical 0.177 reaction times, and at the stripe, the win went to Powell by an 11.04 to 11.07 count.

Stan Bachonski lives just down the road from Raceway Park, so it was a no-brainer that he would come to the event with his '85 Mustang. Competing in Open Comp, Bachonski went out in Round 1 when he went red by a mere 0.005 second.

Another vintage Mustang making passes at the event was this red '68 Shelby Mustang that belongs to Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania's Ryan and Ed Horensky.

Keith Calltri came all the way from Cranston, Rhode Island in his '04 Mach 1 to compete in the 12.0-second index class. Unfortunately, the car broke in Round 1.

Former MM&FF staffer John Hedenberg (near lane) squared off against the '92 Mustang of Anthony Gianelli in the Pro ET final. Hedenberg made us proud with an 0.018 reaction time, but at the finish line, it was Gianelli squeaking by for the win.

The money run in Ford Lightning Truck came down to the '03 Lightning of Rich DeCandia (far lane) and Michael Swallick (near lane). Only 0.006 second separated the two in reaction time, and at the finish line, DeCandia took the win.

Jody Ames made it all the way to the semifinals of Super ET with his '98 Mustang. Running in the low-nine-second zone, Ames used consistency and good reaction times to go some rounds.
