NMCA and NMRA True Street... NMCA and NMRA True Street were combined to bring 80-plus street machines to the streets of Joliet. Modern Mustangs sat side-by-side with musclecars making the True Street scenery that much neater. This innocent-looking Cobra... This innocent-looking Cobra replica deceives the eye with an average of 10.79 and a best run of 10.61 with speeds over 130 mph. The car belongs to Sprehe Ryan of Murphy, Texas, and was one of the biggest sleepers in the category. The faux-Cobra runs a Dart block-based 331 with a 72mm turbo and is backed by an AOD transmission. James Hughes lit 'em up with... James Hughes lit 'em up with his '89 Mustang LX. The nitrous-gulping Windsor pushed Hughes to a 9.56 on the first hit, but the car slowed each run. The final average time was 10.19, still a respectable performance but off-pace for Hughes, who was hoping to have a 9.50 average. Capris rock! They're even... Capris rock! They're even better when dangling the wheels and going 9.70s. John Puckett ended up with a 10.199 average as he smoked the tires during his final run and ran an 11.03. His previous two runs were a 9.75 and a 9.80. Kelly Ryan got it done with... Kelly Ryan got it done with a naturally aspirated engine in his '94 Mustang GT. He finished with an 11.80 average thanks to a 408ci Windsor with AFR 205 heads and Anderson Ford camshaft. The car normally runs 11.40s-11.50s in non-True Street competition. We've seen Ben Ripstein's... We've seen Ben Ripstein's stout '03 Cobra run in the low-10s with ease. He entered True Street using his stock Cobra wheels and a pair of M/T ET Streets, instead of normal strip wear that consists of Bogart big 'n' littles. After almost getting the front meats off the ground, he ran a best of 10.45 and finished with a 10.65 average.
