|
|
Winner Johnny Lightning decided... Winner Johnny Lightning decided that racing his truck in the Pro Lightning class just wasn't enough. The New Providence, Pennsylvania, resident unhooked his '04 E-350 van from the trailer, put in a race tune, and proceeded to knock down another Diesel Challenge win. Capable of running in the 14-second bracket at ease, according to Lightning, the van went out in style as he has a new truck on the way. Winner The Street Lightning... Winner The Street Lightning final saw the '03 Harley-Davidson edition truck of Bob Peden pair up against the '01 Lightning of John Lipps. A 13.64-second pass on his 13.56 dial, plus a holeshot, earned Peden the victory. Cobra Challenge winner Brian... Cobra Challenge winner Brian Kieser's '03 snake was on jackstands two weeks prior to WFC X. Keiser got the itch to get the car out, and after having shifter troubles during qualifying, the car was squared away for eliminations. A 15.26-second run on Ron... A 15.26-second run on Ron Simko's 14.71 dial proved to be the deciding factor in a final-round match with Diesel Challenge winner Johnny Lightning. Simko also lived in the 14-second bracket with his '06 F-350. The Shana Fuss-wheeled '94... The Shana Fuss-wheeled '94 Lightning made it all the way to the quarterfinals of Street Lightning before taking the loss to eventual runner-up John Lipps. Fuss made the haul to Indy from Raymore, Missouri. Winner Janel Hartjes (far... Winner Janel Hartjes (far lane) had just enough car to hold off Brandon Peterson's hard-charging '99 GT (near lane) in the final round of Modular Street. A 12.49 on her 12.40 dial sealed the deal for the victory. This was Janel Hartjes first... This was Janel Hartjes first time wheeling the '98 Mustang, her first time in a car equipped with a transbrake, and her first time hitting a Pro Tree. Seeing as how she scored the win in Modular Street, you could say she had a successful first day at class. The final round of Pro Lightning... The final round of Pro Lightning saw the nine-second truck of Ray Johnson (far lane) square off against the '01 Lightning of Johnny Lightning (near lane). The race was over as soon as it began, though, as Lightning lit the red cherry on the Christmas Tree. John Lipps cruised his silver... John Lipps cruised his silver '01 Lightning to Second-Place honors in Street Lightning. The SVT special ran consistently in the high 12-second zone for most of the weekend. Winner Ray Johnson gave his... Winner Ray Johnson gave his '94 Lightning some muscle. The First-Gen SVT hauler showcases a 410ci small-block Ford that has its power forcibly increased by a Precision Turbo 88mm hairdryer. While he was running only 18 pounds of boost, which netted him the win and a 9.67-second best, Johnson plans to turn the wick up later. By the way, he still takes the truck out for a spin on the street.
