The '93 Cobra R models are...
The '93 Cobra R models are super-rare, as Ford made only 107 units. We can see this particular car going for big money at Barrett-Jackson, as it showed less than 1,000 miles on the odometer. The interior is still wrapped in plastic, and the window sticker has never been removed.
MM&FF HAS long been known to attend nearly every monstrous-sized Mustang and Ford racing event-not all of them, but a good majority of the action-packed races. It's simple-we love racing and feel it's the backbone of the industry. It helps us stay connected to the hottest trends and the latest parts, and it keeps our fingers on the pulse of the industry by mixing it up with enthusiasts on all levels.
While we normally don't attend car shows on official business (unless they're attached to a racing event), the Knott's Berry Farm Fabulous Fords Forever extravaganza is on our list of must-see events each year. It says a lot when adrenaline-seeking race junkies hop on a plane and head cross country for a car show-the Knott's event is that good. The Fabulous Fords car show bursts with over 1,800 Ford vehicles representing all generations of Blue Oval iron.
Knott's Berry Farm is a family-oriented amusement park in Southern California, and it hosts Fabulous Fords Forever in its enormous parking lot. The legendary car show takes place in April, and preregistration is required for vehicles in the show. Entry for spectators is free, and there's a small charge for parking. The day starts early, as the gates open at 7 a.m. for participants. Given the number of entries, we suggest you get there early if you plan on showing your ride.
Weather threatened the event this year, but the rain held off and there were even some moments when the sun shined through the overcast skies. The turnout was spectacular, and the '05-up Mustangs certainly garnered a lot of attention. We're not sure of the breakdown of the number of cars from each Mustang generation, but the S197 ponycars were well represented.
By late afternoon, our feet were aching and our cameras were filled with Fords of all types. We saw everything from stock cars-even a new Hertz Shelby GT-H-to radical race cars. Whatever your pleasure, the Knott's show has something for you.

This was a rather interesting...

This was a rather interesting engine combination we found under the hood of a Gen I Lightning. The Roots-style blower sat on the 351 Windsor engine. Normally, that type of blower combo runs a pair of carburetors atop. This one was fuel injected and done in a neat and clean manner.

If an engine can be considered...

If an engine can be considered heavenly, then this is it. We loved how the owner paid particularly close attention to the little details, such as the subtle usage of braided lines.

You'd barely know that this...

You'd barely know that this LX had 152,000-plus miles on the odometer. A fresh 306ci mill was dropped into the engine compartment. The top of the engine features Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads, a Cobra intake, and a Powerdyne blower with 9 psi of boost.

When your dad is Steve Saleen,...

When your dad is Steve Saleen, you can order a Saleen Mustang in any color you want-whether it's on the list of options or not. That was the case with Molly Saleen, daughter of Steve, as she chose a pinkish color for her 550hp Saleen Extreme. With the keys to her dad's Speed Lab in her pocket, we're willing to bet Molly was able to get more for her car than just a unique paint job.

This Bullitt Mustang is equipped...

This Bullitt Mustang is equipped with a stout Two-Valve bottom end and an Allen Engineering super-charger system. The Allen Engineering blower is a rare supercharger of the positive-displacement variety.

This Mach 1 might look familiar...

This Mach 1 might look familiar to those who check out the forums at www.svtperformance.com. Its owner frequently posts on that site and reports this '03 Mach 1 runs mid-12s without any power adders.

Legend Lime Mustangs, anyone?...

Legend Lime Mustangs, anyone? There was a great variety of them at Knott's Berry Farm. Everything from Roush Mustangs to stock Stangs in that color were lined up in one row.

Here's an understated S197 Mustang GT. It has upgraded suspension components and the usual repertoire of bolt-on components. The 18-inch Fikse wheels made us drool. It's amazing how one item in particular, such as the wheels, can make all the difference in appearance. These wheels are normally found on high-end European sports cars as well as on race cars in the Rolex Sports Car racing series. We've even seen them on FR-500C racers that run in the Grand Am series.
