The end of the '06 racing season was a tough one for anyone looking to go fast on the East Coast. Cold weather had set in, along with buckets of rain and high winds that knocked out action at many tracks, including Maple Grove Raceway, Atco Raceway, and our home track, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, all in one weekend.
Even though rain shortened the Fords at Englishtown weekend to one day and high winds forced track officials at Raceway Park to curtail racing on the dragstrip to the eighth-mile mark for safety, the Ford faithful came out in droves. Show cars gleamed, burnout smoke rose, and the cars were blistering fast.
Of course, the MM&FF staff was there to capture the action. Despite poor conditions, we found a slew of sweet Ford vehicles. Hopefully, the '07 event will be much better. MM&FF, along with RP, is planning a new Fan Appreciation Day for late in the '07 schedule.
