The Ohio State Patrol serves,... The Ohio State Patrol serves, protects, and spent Saturday escorting the True Street competitors around rural Ohio on the required 30-mile cruise. Special thanks to troopers Griffeth (left), Gockstetter (center), and Lottmann (right). By the way, sorry for the noise! Jeff Edwards broke into the... Jeff Edwards broke into the Top 15 on the True Street list with an 11.45 average out of his super-clean Fox-body. Running an 11.32 best, surely many a Camaro driver has felt the kick from this Pony. Andy Brown broke into the... Andy Brown broke into the 12-second zone when he averaged a 12.98 in True Street. The Fox-body convertible, featuring Weld Draglite wheels and the always-cool big-and-little tire combination, ran a best time of 12.84 seconds. Anytime you go to Norwalk,... Anytime you go to Norwalk, you would be remiss if you didn't try the famous ice cream. Just ask MRT's Scott Hoag (right). At $1 a pound-yes, $1 per pound-you could blow your diet way out of whack. Just ask MM&FF Editor Evan Smith. Wait, was I supposed to say that? Beat's me, I'm just the new guy. Just as we were about to leave... Just as we were about to leave Norwalk on Sunday, we had the privilege to talk to Paul and Robert Dappenbrook. The father/son combo competed in True Street, and both made it into the Top 25. Paul was 15th with an 11.56 average, and Robert, pictured here boiling the hides in his yellow 5.0, was 21st with an 11.94 average, making him the last competitor to make it in the 11-second bracket. "Orange" you happy you ran... "Orange" you happy you ran in True Street? Dale Redman sure was. He averaged a 13.80 with his orange GT, but we were digging the awesome paint, cowl hood, and shiny rims. Whether your car goes fast, looks good, or does both, the name of the game in True Street is to have fun. "Orange" you happy you ran... "Orange" you happy you ran in True Street? The scoreboard said it all after Bill Klein's second pass down the track. Klein's 8.77/157-mph pass was the quickest and fastest run by a True Street car at Norwalk. And to think, he drove that car 30 miles before taking that trip down the quarter-mile. How many people can say that? Mike Biggs had a pretty awesome... Mike Biggs had a pretty awesome time at Norwalk. On Saturday, he drove his '88 Mustang to a Ninth-Place finish in the True Street standings with the top-11-second time of 11.15 seconds, and scored the MM&FF Editor's Choice Award. He wasn't done, though, as he came back on Sunday and gunned down Rob Rawlins for the True Street bracket competition win. Not bad for a weekend's work. Look for more on this LX in an upcoming issue. John Slade would have given... John Slade would have given Bill Klein a run for his money to see who would come out on top of True Street. Unfortunately for Slade, he was disqualified after the second True Street run for not wearing the proper safety equipment, namely fire gloves.
