American Autosports Productions, organizers of the Fun Ford Weekend racing series, has cancelled the 3rd annual Pacific Fun Ford Weekend event at California Speedway in Fontana, California. The event was scheduled to run October 1-2, and American Autosports Productions, which is based outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has felt the effects of Hurricane Katrina and more recently, Hurricane Rita.
"Based on recent weather events combined with the situation in East Texas, we felt it was best to stay put and not have our crews and trailers on the roads. We are still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina and with this recent weather system, it only setback our recovery efforts. We are keeping all our participants and fans in thoughts and prayers," said Bill Alexander, Fun Ford Weekend president.
For now, the Fun Ford event in Phoenix, Arizona which is scheduled for October 29-30 is still on.
