It’s that time of year that is usually full of holiday cheer, but there’s an underlying sadness that stems from the holiday season. While others may be giving and receiving, some families don’t have that luxury, especially children. With the season of giving upon us, bringing just one toy can make all the difference.
In celebration of the release of the film Getaway released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE), Carroll Shelby Foundation will be hosting a Toy Drive on December 14, 2014. With one of the Shelby Super Snake Mustangs used in the movie on display, bring a toy and receive a limited-edition poster autographed by Selena Gomez, Ethan Hawk, and Jon Voight, while supplies last.
“The Shelby GT500 Super Snake is an international symbol of pure American performance,” said Tracey Smith, president of Carroll Shelby Licensing, “Getaway marked the first time a modern GT500 Super Snake held a starring role. We’re celebrating the DVD launch of this film at the December Toy Drive by displaying Shelby Super Snakes, including the only one used for the audio portion of the film. While supplies last, we’ll also give a Getaway poster to anyone who contributes a gift to the Foundation’s toy drive.”
The Carroll Shelby Foundation will host this free event on Saturday, December 14 at its Gardena, California location from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Not only will the Getaway car be on display, but a few cars from Carroll’s personal collection will be present as well. Giveaways and raffles will take place, and people are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the Miller Children’s Hospital.
Also, Carroll Shelby Foundation’s 1st-annual limited-edition Shelby Christmas tree ornament will be available at the event with sales benefiting Eli’s House.
Getaway is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and for digital download. In case you didn’t know, this film revolves around Brent Magna (Hawke) who is trying to save his kidnapped wife. Magna must drive the customized Shelby by command, taking its owner (Gomez) on a high-speed pursuit against time. Two genuine Shelby GT500 Super Snakes were used in the making of the film. One was driven in scenes in Bulgaria, while the other was tapped for audio in Los Angeles, which will be the one featured at the Toy Drive.
“Car enthusiasts made Getaway the most popular film of the year featuring a Shelby muscle car,” said Courtney Solomon, director and producer of the movie. “Ever since the film debuted, we’ve been asked when it would be available on DVD. Now everyone can share this movie’s magic with friends and family during the holiday season. It’s the next best thing to finding a Shelby GT500 Super Snake in your stocking.”
If you live around the area, stop on by, check out the movie car, and don’t forget to bring an unwrapped toy for your autographed poster.
