The DR racers were all chasing Dwayne Gutridge, and in order to try and keep up Jimmy Byrne, hooked up a third stage of nitrous. Its effects were a bit disastrous and forced an all night thrash-fest to get it repaired. He unhooked the third kit for eliminations and went to the finals where Gutridge outran him.
