When there is $35,000 on the line to win in Pro Mod 5.0, the racing gets really serious. Tim Huston of ASSC Racing hired former IHRA and NHRA Pro Stock driver Tony Gillig to wheel his '02 Mustang GT this year in WFC and FFW competition. Gillig qualified with a 6.65, but lost in the semifinals to Dan Parker.

John Urist brought his own version of a "Shock and Awe" campaign in Pro Street Outlaw. Despite being 250 pounds overweight, he bolted on a bigger turbo and ran some impressive 7.69 runs. His great driving skills got him past Dan Millen in the quarterfinals in what was one of the best races in the history of the class. Urist beat Millen by only .0006 seconds, but lost the next round to Lynch.
